A pair of Central Division foes square off in Winnipeg Monday night as the Jets host the Colorado Avalanche.

Colorado suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands off the NHL’s worst team Saturday night, while Winnipeg is looking to extend its winning streak to three games.
Colorado
The Colorado Avalanche have been a difficult team to dissect this season. With a high-powered offense that averages more than 2.8 GPG, you’d think the Avs would be one of the best teams in the league.
Unfortunately, they’re not very good at keeping the puck out of the net and it’s cost them in the standings. Colorado is coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Avs’ 47 points keep them 9th in the Western Conference.

The Avalanche have a great record within the Central Division this season, as they’ve compiled a record of 9-3-1 against their divisional foes.
Colorado is also 14-7-2 versus Western Conference opponents this year and is 4-2 in its last six road contests.
The Avs have also dominated the Jets lately, winning 4 of the last 5 contests between the two teams. Semyon Varlamov is expected to start between the pipes in this one.
His GAA is high at 2.82 and he has a weak save percentage of just .909.
Winnipeg
It’s been a tough year for the Winnipeg Jets, a team that played tremendously down the stretch last season to clinch a playoff spot. The Jets are just two points behind the Avalanche in the Central Division, but they’ve struggled mightily within the division.
Winnipeg comes in with a conference record of 10-16-1 and a division record of 6-10-1.
Though they’ve played poorly against the division throughout the year, the Jets have managed to win their last two divisional games.
Winnipeg is averaging 2.62 GPG with ranks 13th in the league, and the team’s offense goes strictly through forward Blake Wheeler. Wheeler’s 31 assists are 4th in the NHL and his 44 points rank 6th. The Jets have also found a solid goaltender in Connor Hellebuyck, who is expected to get the start in this one.
Hellebuyck has been excellent since replacing injured goaltender Ondrej Pavelec who suffered a nasty injury in November. Hellebucyk comes in with a record of 11-6-1, a GAA of 2.00 and a save percentage of .931.

Free NHL Hockey Prediction: Avalanche ML
Both of these teams have under performed this season and are separated by just two points in the standings. But Colorado has fared much better than Winnipeg against divisional opponents, and the Avs have won 4 of their last 5 games against the Jets.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Colorado ML
Winnipeg is averaging just 2 goals per game over its last five games, and I can’t see the Jets’ offense keeping up with Colorado’s.
