A Central Division matchup will see the 7th place Colorado Avalanche head to Winnipeg to take on the 5th place Jets, in a game that matters much more at this point for the latter.
Winnipeg, not out of the Wild Card race in the Western Conference, needs every point, especially one against bad teams like the Avalanche.
Colorado Avalanche
Nothing has gone right, not even the trade deadline, for the Colorado Avalanche this year. The team has been poor all-around and has just 17 wins on the year. With no possible way of going on a run and making the playoffs at this point, the Avs are just looking to tank and get the best pick in the draft.
Don’t expect things to turn around during the last 20 games for this team. The offense is the worst in the league, scoring just 122 goals on the season.

The defense isn’t much better, giving up the 4th most goals in the NHL at 205. That’s a minus-83 goal differential for those keeping score.
No skater, outside of Matt Duchene, has been able to generate much offense for Colorado. Duchene has 16 goals and 20 assists on the year, but doesn’t have a single point in his last five games. And he has just one goal in his last 18 games.
The team’s next best player has been young Mikko Rantanen. He has 14 goals and 16 assists, including one of each in his last five games.
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg is making a push for the playoffs and the team is right in the thick of the Wild Card race. Games like this one should be an easy two points and help the team climb the ranks.
The Jets have been inconsistent at times but have one of the top 10 offenses in the NHL. The team has 189 goals through 64 games and a lot of that has to do with Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele.
Rookie right wing Patrik Laine has been fantastic all season, fighting through a concussion earlier in 2017 and coming back even better. He has 31 goals and 25 assists, including five goals and four assists in his last five games.

Center Mark Scheifele has been Winnipeg’s other best forward. He has 26 goals and 39 assists this season. Over his last five games, he has a goal and eight assists.
On the personnel front, after serving a two-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head, Jacob Trouba will be back in the lineup for the Jets.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 4-2 in Winnipeg’s last six games
- Colorado is 1-5 SU in the last six games
Free Colorado Avalanche vs. Winnipeg Jets NHL Hockey Prediction:
Colorado can’t stop anybody, especially not players like Patrik Laine and Mark Schiefele. This should be a pretty straightforward game for Winnipeg as long as the defense holds up. The Jets get the W in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Winnipeg ATS
Simply put, Colorado is a bad team. Winnipeg, a team with a couple of the best scorers in the league, should easily be able to cover the spread in this one.
