Three straight Blackhawks wins have them seeking a fourth at the Scottrade Center against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
The Blues are coming off a 5-2 win against the Devils and seek to win their second of a three-game home stand.
Chicago Blackhawks
With the exception of Corey Crawford, the Blackhawks are back to full strength and are starting to really show it. Jonathan Toews is back healthy and recorded his first point since November 13 on Thursday against the Islanders.
Marian Hossa has performed so well this season. He has pulled into fourth place in the NHL in goals (16) and has four in his last five games.

Artem Anisimov is playing brilliant hockey and is well on pace to surpass his best season in goals and assists. Through 31 games this year, Anisimov has 14 goals and 13 assists.
Scott Darling was lit up in the first period against the Islanders but despite that, has been a lifesaver for the Blackhawks in goal since Corey Crawford’s appendectomy. He is 8-2-2 with a 2.18 goals against average.
With the Hawks playing great on both sides of the ice, ranking 7th in goals for and 8th in goals against, Chicago is keeping a good lock on 1st place in the Central Division, despite quality runs from the Blues and Wild.
St. Louis Blues
A regulation victory for the Blues in this game would see them pull within four points of the 1st place Blackhawks and give them a slight edge over the Minnesota Wild.
While not as great of a December as the Blackhawks, the Blues are playing good hockey. St. Louis is 4-2-2 so far this month and has been extremely difficult to beat at home all year. The team is currently 13-1-3 in the Scottrade Center.
The goal scoring has been there all year. With 87 goals on the season, the Blues are 8th in the NHL. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the same story on the defensive end, as the Blues have also given up 87 goals (18th in the league).
It’s been a fantastic year for Vladimir Tarasenko. With 15 goals on the year, he’s been the Blues’ best player by far.
[dfads params=’groups=234&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
He has 10 points in his last five games (2G, 8A) and has been instant offense when he’s on the ice.
To beat the Blackhawks in regulation, the Blues will need some great offense from Tarasenko and shut down the trio of Hossa, Kane, and Anisimov…and Panarin, and Toews.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The UNDER is 4-1 in Chicago’s last five games
- St. Louis is 4-0-1 in its last five at home
Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues NHL Hockey Prediction:
At home, the Blues have been almost unbeatable. On the second of a three-game home stand, the Blues definitely have the advantage.
While the Hawks are playing great hockey, I think the Blues take this W.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: St. Louis -125
St. Louis at home is hard to bet against. Considering the 13-1-3 record, I have to give the pick to the Blues.
