The Edmonton Oilers return home after a week off to face the Chicago Blackhawks in a battle for two important points in the Western Conference.
Chicago Blackhawks
Led by a recent offensive charge, the Blackhawks find themselves closing the gap with the Minnesota Wild in the Central Division.
The Hawks have scored 13 goals over their last three games and continue to improve on their 11th-ranked offense.

The defense hasn’t been as efficient as we’ve seen over the last few years, but goaltenders Corey Crawford and Scott Darling have still fared well in net.
Crawford has won his last three starts, though he’s been the beneficiary of some tremendous offense.
Chicago has also owned the Oilers over the last two seasons, winning 8 of the previous 10 matchups. The Blackhawks have also had their way Pacific Division foes this year, compiling a record of 9-3-2.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers return to the ice after their mandatory week-long break, and they’re hoping they can start with a win against a very tough Blackhawks team.
The Oilers couldn’t have asked for better timing in regards to their week off. Edmonton had totaled just four goals in their previous four games before the break, and they’ll need to do much better than that against Chicago’s 10th-ranked defense.

Just as Chicago has owned the Pacific Division, Edmonton has owned the Central Division. The Oilers are 8-3-3 vs. Central Division opponents, though they have dropped their last two.
The Oilers have looked like a completely different team this year, and head coach Todd McLellan deserves a majority of the credit.
Both the goaltending and the offense are greatly improved from what the team has produced the last five years, but it remains to be seen if this inexperienced team can finish as strong as they started.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Blackhawks are 5-1 in their last 6 road games.
- Blackhawks O/U is 10-2-1 in their last 13 games.
- Blackhawks are 6-3 in back-to-back games this year.
- Oilers are 13-9-3 at home.
- Oilers O/U is 4-6-3 in their last 13 games.
Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Edmonton Oilers NHL Hockey Prediction:
Edmonton couldn’t have asked for a better time to have their break as the offense has fallen completely flat. Unfortunately for the Oilers, the Blackhawks are playing incredibly well right now.
While the Hawks have proven how effective they can be during the season’s second half, the Oilers aren’t used to playing this well so late in the year.
And while the Oilers will have their batteries charged, I like the Blackhawks and their experience.

With an encouraging record in back-to-back games, I’ll side with the Hawks.
