Chicago is once again a force to be reckoned with in the Central Division this season, leading the Western Conference (alongside Edmonton) with 15 total points.
With the point-leader from a season ago, Patrick Kane, on their roster, one would think that if you were told a Chicago player was staking claim to that title this season as well it would be him…
Chicago Blackhawks
…However, that title currently belongs to Kane’s linemate, Artem Anisimov, and his 14 points through 11 games played.
Anisimov and Kane are joined by KHL free-agent signee prior to last season, Artemi Panarin, to form one of the deadliest lines in the league. All three of the trio have recorded over a point-per-game this season, and have scored 15 of Chicago’s 40 goals.
The Blackhawks group is deep, though, and it’s not just this line that provides all of the offense, with balanced scoring coming from the likes of Toews, Marian Hossa, and the pleasant surprise, Richard Panik.
Panik was signed away from Toronto, and he’s performed admirably in Chicago with six goals and ten points in 11 games.

The defense is once again led by the incumbent duo of Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, both former-Olympians, and two-time Stanley Cup Champions. Keith has nine assists and leads the team in average time-on-ice at 25:06.
Seabrook for his part logs heavy minutes as well (23:18 on average), and has chipped in seven points and a plus-7 rating.
Corey Crawford has been great in net yet again this year, with a .936 SV% and a 2.01 GAA in nine starts,
He, like the defensive duo in front of him, is also a former Canadian Olympian and Stanley Cup champion making a strong push early on for another title.
Dallas Stars
Dallas owned an offense that led the league in 2015-16, where they averaged a mark of 3.23 goals-per-game. Their top-end talent is amongst the top-tier in the league, with Seguin and captain Jamie Benn leading the way.
This season, though, the team ranks at just 19th in goals-per-game with 2.6 on average.
Seguin has certainly done his part to shoulder much of the offensive load, with 12 points in 10 games.
Benn has added in right of his own, but beyond those two the depth needs to provide more.
The third leading scorer on the team is defenseman John Klingberg, who is a good offensive defenseman but the Stars would like for Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp to outpace his production.
Spezza and Sharp are both being paid a large sum to provide the secondary scoring but have totaled a combined total of six points in 12 games, a mark that will need to be enhanced if Dallas wants to make some noise in the West.

The Stars’ haven’t solved the mystery that is their goaltending woes, as they still have both big-ticket players in Antti Niemi and Kari Lehtonen.
Neither have a SV% over the .900 mark and neither have made a case that they should be a #1 guy in this league still.
Unless this situation gets resolved ahem, Ben Bishop it could be a long season for Stars’ fans and their playoff hopes.

Free Chicago Blackhawks vs Dallas Stars NHL Hockey Prediction
With the shaky backend and crease situation in Dallas, I think the Blackhawks have an advantage in both areas as well as the offense, at least this season thus far.
Never easy to play a road game in the West, but Chicago is in another class than the Stars.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Chicago ML
Simply put, I like the price point of a visiting Chicago team at -117 but have looked far superior than the team in Dallas this season.
It will be a fun game to watch, one that features some the planet’s most elite talent squaring off against each other, but in the end I think the more complete team prevails.
