Despite a very talented roster, all has not been OK in Shark Land. They corrected things a little bit with the recent decisive win over Montreal, but another subpar squad rolling into town like the ‘Canes might be just what the doctor ordered for San Jose.
Carolina Hurricanes
It’s the month of December, which means it’s not long now until the ‘Canes franchise gets to rock the amazing old Hartford Whalers jerseys in a game! (Dec. 23 I believe). Not that it’s the only interesting headline about Carolina, but it’s close. Carolina’s offense is driven by speedy Finn Sebastian Aho and Micheal Ferland. Problem is, it’s not enough offense as the Hurricanes rank 29th in the league in goals for.

Carolina is much better at keeping the puck out of its net (2.69 goals against per game, good for seventh in the NHL) and the ‘Canes have their deep, young, talented blueline to thank for that. Leafs cast-off Curtis McElhinney has also been excellent in net for the Hurricanes. In all, Carolina would be in good shape if it could just find some more goal scorers.
San Jose Sharks
For a roster as talented as San Jose, the Sharks really should be better than they’ve shown so far in 2018-19. It’s hardly a crisis yet; there’s tons of time still and the Sharks still sit third in the Pacific division with 31 points, but with some more consistent play the Sharks could easily be leading the Pacific – maybe even should be leading it.

The ability available on hand is extensive – Norris winners and contenders like Brent Burns, Erik Karlsson and Marc-Eduoard Vlasic, solid goalies like Martin Jones and Alex Dell, and goal scorers aplenty like Timo Meier, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Evander Kane, Kevin Labanc and ‘Jumbo’ Joe Thornton. There’s plenty of game-winners mixed in there, so they have to just start doing it.

Free Carolina Hurricanes vs. San Jose Sharks NHL Prediction:
The way McElhinney is playing lately, he could stymie the home team, but the Sharks did just solve Carey Price, so they should be equipped to keep lighting the lamp.
If the Sharks can score like their roster suggests they should, they should be victorious because they purely have the horses to out-run a pop-gun attack like Carolina’s.
