Carolina will search for their first win tonight when they head into Edmonton to take on the Oilers.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes got the unfortunate task of opening the season on a 6 game road trip.
Things haven’t gone to plan through the first two games, as they have started the season off 0-2. Overtime losses to Winnipeg and Vancouver have opened their season up, both of which include them conceding 3 goal leads.

The Hurricanes issue has been late game defending. Carolina has raced out to leads of 4-1 and 3-0, but adding on and putting opponents away has been something this team hasn’t done.
Letting teams hang around, they go into a pack it in mode and allow the opposing team to pepper their goal.
Defenseman Justin Faulk has been on the scoring end for the Hurricanes, but him, along with the rest of the defense have been allowing way too many easy goals. Currently, the Hurricanes are allowing 4.5 goals per game through their first two.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are going to have to prove that they can beat a team not named the Calgary Flames.
After starting the season off 2-0 with back to back wins over Calgary, the Oilers were knocked around by the Buffalo Sabres in a 6-2 home defeat.
They’ll continue what is a 3 game homestand now and look for a bounce back game from Connor McDavid. The young star had a field day with the Flames, but was kept off the scoresheet in the 6-2 loss.

This is also going to be a huge bounce back game for Benoit Pouliot. On Sunday, Pouliot was benched in the 2nd period after committing 3 penalties.
He was a crucial part of this team last year, scoring 19 goals, and they’ll certainly need him to step as the season goes on.

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Carolina ML
Look for Carolina to get out early once again, but this time hold the lead late. They’re certainly at an advantage here with how bad the Oilers defense has been.
