Two teams coming off losses and a couple of days off will face each other in Alberta, where the Edmonton Oilers call home. The Oilers welcome in the Carolina Hurricanes in a matchup between two one-win teams just starting their third week of regular season play.
Carolina Hurricanes
The ‘Canes are near the bottom of the Metropolitan standings but some of that is because they have only played three games, compared to the others that have played five or six.
Carolina had a shootout win in its first game, followed by an overtime loss, before losing in regulation, 2–1, to Winnipeg on Saturday.

The production has been quite balanced through the first three games. Six guys have two points and another four have chipped in one. Jeff Skinner has two of the team’s six goals to lead the way, including a goal in the most recent loss, which marked his 500th career game.
It’s a little hard to believe he’s just 25 years old, which makes him a veteran on the young Carolina roster.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers started their season well with a shutout win over Calgary. But things have gone south since then. Edmonton has dropped its last three games since the opening win and the last two have been lopsided.
Winnipeg got Edmonton, 5–2, to start last week. Then the Oilers got four days off and proceeded to get trampled, 6–1, by Ottawa on Saturday.

Tuesday will be the Oilers’ first game against a US-based opponent, though Edmonton will host. Connor McDavid is off to a fast start and leads the team with five points.
The Oilers are off to a concerning start but it’s better the dark days are early than late. Edmonton still has time to straighten things. The fan base’s expectations remain high as they try to battle through a turbulent start.

Free Carolina Hurricanes vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction: Edmonton gets up for this one and plays well enough to win.
Some more time off equals adjustments and continued cohesiveness. Edmonton isn’t a terrible team and I like them in this spot at home. The defense must be better, though.
