Two teams who are fighting for draft positions get set for battle on Saturday night as the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers go at it.
Both teams are currently at the bottom of the West and have just 3 points that separate them.
Calgary Flames
This has been an exceptionally disappointing year for the Flames.
Calgary has been a young team, but they rode their youth energy to a playoff spot last year and it looked like this team was taking a huge step in the right direction. However, they have taken about 4 or 5 steps backwards this season.
Calgary currently sits 4th last in the West as they have accumulated just 70 points. Losing streaks have become quite the norm for the Flames and they currently sit in a 2 game streak, that saw them fall 3-0 to the Kings last time out.

The Flames have also been abysmal on the road this season. Calgary has gone just 12-24-1-2 on the season allowing nearly 3.4 goals per road contest.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers have been even worse this year and that’s a tough task to accomplish.
Edmonton, like their counterparts, have dropped back to back games, but do come in off a hard fought game against the Ducks last time out. Edmonton gave Anaheim all they could handle before ultimately falling 2-1.
The Oilers rank near the bottom in almost every category as well. They sit 26th in GAA, 26th in goals for, and 21st in PK. It’s just been that kind of year for them as nothing has seemed to work and no breaks have gone their way.

The one thing that the Oilers can hang their heads on is their home play. They have gone an average 18-19-1-1 and drop their GAA to just 2.7 on the season.

Free Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers NHL Hockey Prediction
With a better draft pick on the line, could the motivation factor be completely down for both teams?
It’s not out of the question, but thing is for sure, neither team has much talent.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Oilers -143
Give the edge to Edmonton here solely based on their average home play. Look for them to use that as they grab a win in what expects to be a very sloppy game.
