Coming off a tough 2-1 shootout loss to Carolina, the Buffalo Sabres continue their short road trip against the Florida Panthers.
Florida is coming off a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche and is looking to climb the Atlantic Division.
Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are 3-1-1 in their last five games and have shown signs of continued improvement since Jack Eichel’s return from injury.
Eichel has been an instant offensive spark in his nine games this year. He has eight points (5G, 3A) in those nine games and has brought life to an offense that ranks 29th in goals scored on the season.

While the offense has been rough all year, the defense has kept them in games and been a major factor in the team’s wins. Ranked 8th in goals against, the Sabres have stifled offenses and kept games extremely close.
The Sabres haven’t allowed more than four goals in a game all year, and have allowed two or less goals in 15 games.
While it’s been a good defensive year for the Sabres, they can’t make a good run at the playoffs without improving on the offensive end.
Florida Panthers
The Panthers are continuing to struggle under new coach Tom Rowe and the on-the-fly changes that the front office is making this year. Coupled with injury issues, Florida is having an extremely tough time stringing wins together.
With a paltry record of 3-4-2 this month, Florida is currently without its top goal-scorer in Jon Marchessault, and his return is unknown for now.
Marchessault has 10 goals and 10 assists on the season and has played well, despite the Panthers having the 26th ranked offense in the NHL.
The offense hasn’t been there all year and a lot of blame can be placed on the front office. The team has gone away from the formula that won them the Atlantic Division title last year.

Luckily, there is still hope for the Panthers. The defense has been decent this year, thanks to some great play from Aaron Ekblad and Keith Yandle.
The team ranks 12th in the league in goals against and has been able to keep games close.
The Panthers will need to play a solid defensive game in order to keep Buffalo and Jack Eichel off the score sheet.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Buffalo is 5-5-4 on the road this season
- The OVER is 4-1 in Florida’s last five games
Free Buffalo Sabres vs. Florida Panthers NHL Hockey Prediction:
Buffalo is second to last in goals this season, while Florida is 26th in goals. This should be a low-scoring affair, and I think Florida will have the advantage at home, where they are 8-5 on the year. Florida gets the W.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Florida -150
Buffalo isn’t a great scoring team. I think Florida will get a close win at home.
