With both the Sabres and Hurricanes on the second night of a back-to-back, Carolina will look to capitalize on the home ice advantage and pick up a win against the improving Buffalo squad.
Buffalo Sabres
It’s still all about the return of Jack Eichel for this Buffalo team. He’s been fantastic and is showing why he was last year’s 2nd overall draft pick. Without him, the Sabres seem to be lost offensively.
Despite his triumphant return, the rest of the team is having some trouble scoring consistently. While Eichel has four goals in his last five games, the team still ranks dead last in goals for this year.

There is some hope in changing that, though. Since Eichel’s return, the Sabres have put up three or more goals in five of the last seven games. The team is moving the puck better and showing more signs of life on both sides of the ice than earlier in the season.
The D side of the Sabres has been the highlight of the team. The Sabres rank 8th in goals against in the league and are keeping better offensive teams at bay.
If the Sabres can find their offensive legs and keep up the defense, they can start winning more games and be a relevant team in the Atlantic Division.
Carolina Hurricanes
For the Canes, Victor Rask and Jeff Skinner are the best players on the offensive side. Rask has 10 goals and 14 assists, while Skinner has 11 goals and 14 assists on the year.
These two are great, young players who are definitely earning their paychecks. However, a lot of it is for naught considering how little the rest of the team can score.
The Canes rank 17th in goals for on the year and aren’t much higher in the goals against category.

But there is some good news for the Carolina squad. The team has won its last seven games at home and is 8-3-0 on the year. The Canes clearly flourish under the bright lights of their own arena and will try to continue that winning streak against the Sabres.
To beat the Sabres, Carolina has to contain Jack Eichel and limit his touches near the goal. He’s a great scorer and a solid passer, so if he gets near the net, Canes fans will be holding their breath.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Buffalo is 6-1 ATS in last seven games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Carolina’s last six games
Free Buffalo Sabres vs. Carolina Hurricanes NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Sabres are the better offensive team. With both teams on the second night of a back-to-back, this game could go either way. Considering how poor Carolina has been on defense this year, it’s hard to bet against Jack Eichel’s team.
