Los Angeles flopped in their home opener as the San Jose Sharks came in and routed them 5-1.
The puck drops at 10:30 PM EST.
Arizona
The Coyotes really had nothing to write home about last year. This was one of the worst teams in all of hockey and their record certainly reflected that. With a 24-50-8 record, Arizona finished 7th in the Pacific.
The Coyotes will offer a compliment of young talent that has the potential to cause a lot of havoc if they can gel and get out of the gates early this season.

Max Domi and Anthony Duclair offer the Coyotes a solid duo of young talent that will be making their Arizona debuts come Friday night.
Arizona also added defenseman Nicklas Grossmann who will be a major factor for them. The Coyotes allowed 3.26 goals against last season, that ranked 28th in the league.
Arizona will also have G Mike Smith back, which was one of their major downfalls in last season. Smith finished 14-42-5 with 3.16 goals against, which is something he will seriously have to improve on. Smith will have a much improved defense in front of him.
Los Angeles
Things did not go according to plan for the Kings in their opening game as they were routed by the San Jose Sharks 5-1. A sellout crowd was quickly energized after Los Angeles opened the scoring just 2 minutes into the game, but the Kings failed to tally anything else the rest of the way.
Los Angeles had just 20 shots in their opener and turned in just a rather sluggish performance.

An improvement from the new forward line is expected and needs to happen here on Friday night. Anze Kopitar, Marian Gaborik and Milan Lucic held a minus 6 rating combined and seem to be frustrated all night. Lucic let his frustrations get the best of him as he was ejected in the 3rd period.
The Kings will also look to improve upon their poor penalty performances. On the penalty kill side, the Kings allowed 2 PP goals. With a man advantage, they finished 0 for 6.
Los Angeles went 3-0-1 last season against the Coyotes.

Free NHL Hockey Prediction
The Kings can put that home opening loss behind them and get back to form here against a team that was just horrible in 2014. Arizona hasn’t done much to improve themselves as they remain extremely young.
