The top dogs for the Ducks have been performing admirably and carrying the load on offense, as they often do.
It should be as interesting matchup, as the Columbus scoring has come more so from their depth players than their big name stars.
Both teams have excelled on special teams through about 1/8th of the season, with each sitting in the top-5 in power play percentage, and both ranking favorably on the penalty kill.
Anaheim Ducks
The stars are doing it once again for Anaheim, with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf leading the team in points with 13 and 12, respectively.
Perry is averaging exactly a point-per-game this season, whereas Getzlaf has missed three games but is besting his linemate’s averaging production at a mark of 1.2 points-per-game.
The second-line center behind Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, was a big-ticket free agent a couple of summers ago.
Kesler is performing at a high-level this year, with 10 points in 13 games while registering team-bests in both plus-minus rating at +5 rating and ppg with four.
Andrew Cogliano leads the team with five goals and the depth on the Ducks has just received a huge boost with the signing of Richard Rakell, a pending RFA who was finally inked after a holdout.
Rakell has recorded three goals and three assists for six points in his four games played so far.

John Gibson has been handed the full reigns of the starting job this season, appearing in 11 og the Ducls’ 13 games this season. Gibson owns a .914 SV% and 2.43 GAA with a 5-4-2 record on the young season.
Jonathan Bernier comes to the Ducks’ as his back-up, and has performed much better with his new team, granted it has a much better defensive unit and lineup in front of him than Toronto’s.
Bernier has recorded a 1-1 record while appearing in four games, with a .939 SV% and 2.03 GAA this year.
Columbus Blue Jackets
I’m still puzzled that coach John Tortorella continues to get head coaching jobs in the NHL, as his antics seem to wear thin after a short period of time and was a large reason why former #1 center, Ryan Johansen, was sent packing to Nashville.
Torts must be doing something right though, as his team measures favorably in all the major categories this season.
Columbus currently sits 5th in goals per game (3.2), 3rd in goals against (2.1), 1st in power play % (39.3) and 2nd in penalty kill % (90.6).
His defensive systems and compete-level have long been the calling card of Tortorella-led teams, so the PK and GAA should come as no surprise, but the offense is.
Nick Foligno, he of 31 goal and 73 point performance in 2014-15, was handed a big-ticket after his big season.
After a terrible season a year ago, that saw him register just 37 points, has rebounded nicely and is leading the Jackets with 12 points in 10 games (tied with Alexander Wennberg).
Wennberg has been a nice addition in the lineup, as has rookie defenseman Zach Werenski, who has 10 points of his own on the year.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been excellent early on this year, recording a 1.79 GAA and .947 SV% in his nine starts.
Is he can stay healthy, which is a big “if” for Bob, he is on pace for a career year.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- Columbus ranks in the top-5 in each of Goals Per Game, Goals Against, PP percent and PK percent.
- After starting the season 0-4 on the road, Anaheim has earned at least a point in each of their past three road games.
Free Anaheim Ducks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets NHL Hockey Prediction
With each team scoring at a solid clip, I think the offense should be apparent in this game.
Anaheim has scored 3.33 goals-per-game over their past six games, and CBJ has 3.5 over the same span, respectively. Columbus’ numbers are skewed, though, by a 10-0 win against Montreal in a shocking game.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Anaheim Moneyline
I understand that both teams have been playing solid on offense, but as mentioned CBJ’s figure is slightly skewed from one massive outburst.
Anaheim is getting +107 on the road in what should be a pick’em game, so I’ll take the payout odds.
Gibson has improved on his early numbers but it still at .914 SV%, and I don’t expect Bobrovsky to maintain a .947 SV% himself.
This could certainly be a game that helps Bob’s numbers regress back to a more reasonable level.
