Coming off of three straight losses, the Anaheim Ducks are in desperate need of a win and will look to get it at the KeyBank Center against the Buffalo Sabres.
Buffalo, coming off a good overtime win over San Jose, will look to carry that momentum against another Pacific Division team.
Anaheim Ducks
The three losses haven’t helped the Ducks, but they haven’t hurt the Ducks either. Anaheim still sits 2nd in the Pacific Division, and is poised to make another playoff run.
A large part of Anaheim’s solid performance this season has been the quality of defense. The Ducks are 8th best in the NHL in goals against, letting in a total of 139 on the season.

The team gives up an average of 2.5 goals per game and also has a fantastic penalty kill percentage at 84.4%. You have to love how the defense has played this season and it’s been a huge reason for the team’s winning ways, especially considering the offense isn’t particularly great.
The Ducks win a lot of games by keeping things low scoring and gutting out wins. The Ducks only average 2.5 goals per game. Center Richard Rakell has been a major goal scorer for the team. He has 21 goals and nine assists on the year.
Rakell has been in a bit of a slump, however, and only has a single point over his previous five games.
Alongside him has been right wing Jakob Silfverberg. He has 16 goals and 18 assists this season, including three goals and two assists over his last five games.
Buffalo Sabres
Buffalo is just, unfortunately, not a good offensive team. The Sabres average just 2.5 goals per game, putting the team 23rd in the NHL.
With just a total of 131 goals this season, Buffalo hasn’t been able to win a lot of games because it can’t keep up with high-scoring offenses.
On the offense front, the major factor is center Jack Eichel. He has 12 goals and 13 assists in his 32 games played this season, including four assists over his last five games.
Eichel is having a solid second year in the NHL and has come on strong since coming back from injury in December.

Right wing Kyle Okposo has been playing good hockey for the Sabres as well. He has 17 goals and 17 assists, including two goals and an assist over his last five games.
Outside of Eichel, Okposo, and Evander Kane, Buffalo doesn’t have many goal scorers and it’s definitely affected the team throughout the year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Anaheim is 4-2 ATS in the last six games
- Buffalo is 2-4 SU in the last six games
Free Anaheim Ducks vs. Buffalo Sabres NHL Hockey Prediction:
Coming off three straight losses, Anaheim really needs a win. I think Anaheim will get a much needed victory over a weak Buffalo team. The Ducks get the W on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Anaheim -115
Despite the recent losses, Anaheim is a good team, one that should be able to beat the Sabres on the road. I like the Anaheim money line here.
