The Panthers finally dropped a game last week. This one still has meaning though as it is needed to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. So the intensity should be there.

Kick off is set for 4:25 PM ET which mirrors the Arizona-Seattle game, the other determining factor in that race to the top of the NFC. You can Panthers brass is paying attention.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have been a pleasant surprise this season. Top pick Jameis Winston has played well and they definitely have the look of team whose future is brighter than their past.
A win to close the the season would be nice but they would have had a better shot if Carolina had not been dumped by Atlanta last week. If both teams go all out they are at a disadvantage for sure.
Speaking of disadvantage it hurts that they will not have the services of Vincent Jackson in this one. He has been in and out of the lineup and key to Winston’s development when available.

Winston’s development has been key but don’t overlook the return of the running game in Tampa this season. The Muscle Hampster was back this year and this group was 4th in the league running the football.
I like Tampa’s prospects to be in the mix next season but this one is not a great spot to finish up.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were flat last week and lost at Atlanta. They have been so consistent all season long that even though the loss was a surprise it was the lack of life that was more disturbing to me.
This week they look to close out the regular season with a win at home. The fact that the game has real meaning should make it easier to get the kind of effort from this group we have seen all season.

When they beat Tampa earlier in the season it was the defense that led the way. They forced Winston into four interceptions allowing a mediocre offensive performance to be more than enough. If they can’t get those turnovers this game is going to be a heck of a lot tougher.
Cam Newton has been amazing all season long but they need the running game to step forward in this one. Jonathan Stewart is unlikely to play but they need to grind things out to set up the rest of their offense.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Tampa Bay ATS
The Panthers will close with a win but it won’t be a dominating performance to inspire playoff confidence.
