NFC South foes Tampa Bay and Atlanta square off in week one action. Neither team managed to qualify for the post-season a year ago, and in a division that seems pre-destined to go to Carolina once again, these two will be scrapping to hang in wildcard contention.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs are poised to be a sleeper pick in a lot of weeks this year and have a reasonable shot at sniffing a wildcard. QB Jameis Winston enjoyed a solid rookie campaign and has a year under his belt now.

This team also comes with a lot of talented skill position players.
Mike Evans might be the best receiver in the division not named Julio Jones, and he’s got a nice supporting cast to work with in the form of running back Doug Martin, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (if he can stay healthy), and Vincent Jackson is the Roddy White to Evans’ Julio Jones from last year.

The team will live and die however on how Winston’s progression comes along. He had a very solid rookie season, throwing for over 4,000 yards while connecting for 22 TDs and throwing 15 picks.
If Winston can rack up another 4,000 this year and improve on his TD:INT ratio (somewhere in the 30:12 range) this team should finish much better than their 6-10 record of a year ago.
Atlanta Falcons
Despite a career year out of Julio Jones and Devonte Freeman bursting on the scene as one of the league’s most productive running backs, the Falcons could still only manage an 8-8 record, and failed to make the post-season last year.
The team got younger at the receiver position, parting ways with Roddy White and replacing him with Mohamed Sanu from the Cincinnati Bengals.
It seems like a double-edged sword on offence for this team, as Sanu is expected to ease the workload for Jones a bit, but giving less looks to a receiver who made the most of his 200+ targets a year ago could spell trouble.

This team, despite having one of the league’s best receivers and a breakout running back were still the lowest scoring team in the NFC South.
Defensively they should be solid, but they need to figure out how to diversify from just Jones and Freeman.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Tampa Bay +3.0
Tampa Bay can win this one outright and oddsmakers’ confidence in Atlanta should be enough to get you leaning towards the Bucs. Three points as the home team against a team that finished 6-10 a year ago? Not very high praise for the Falcons.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Tampa Bay 24 – Atlanta 20
Winston and the Tampa offence is too much and a 4th quarter touchdown seals a comeback win where the Bucs trailed but hung around all game.
