The San Francisco 49ers travel east for a date with the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 2 NFL action. The Steelers took a disheartening loss last week at the hands of the New England Patriots, while the Niners shocked some people with an absolute mauling of the Minnesota Vikings.

The game will kick off at 1 p.m. EDT in Pittsburgh, and rest will play a huge factor in this one as the Steelers played the first game of week one and the Niners played the last.
San Francisco 49ers
The Niners might’ve opened some eyes in week one with a comprehensive 20-3 victory over the Vikings, reminding some of the vaunted San Fran defenses of the not too distant past.
The 49er offense wasn’t spectacular though, save for Carlos Hyde, who after an injury to Reggie Bush, absolutely took over the game, scampering for 168 yards and two touch downs.
The niner D was very impressive as well, holding Adrian Peterson to just 31 yards and limiting QB Teddy Bridgewater to 231 yards through the air while picking him off once.
Where concern may lie with this team is that Colin Kaepernick was not very sharp in the pass game, completing just 17 passes on 26 attempts for 165 yards.
An offense that features Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis should be able to move the ball through the air a little bit more effectively.
Why this is a concern is because the Steelers were very solid against the run in week one, holding the Pats to just 80 yards on the ground, and it took a 4 TD performance from Tom Brady to beat them.
San Fran isn’t going to run all over the Steelers the way they did the Vikings, and Kap and the receivers will need to play a bigger role this week if the Niners are going to have a shot.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Week one was very interesting for me, as this was one of the first weeks (at least this early in the season), where I could say I was more impressed by the losing team in a number of games.
The Steelers were one of those teams, (others were the Ravens and Giants).
Those teams all share the common thread of doing more than enough to win, but were beaten by some costly mistakes at bad times.
The Steelers put up a staggering 464 yards of offense in week one against the Patriots, in New England, but an inability to finish drives was costly.
By all accounts the Steelers did more than enough to win. Giving up four TDs to Tom Brady in New England is nothing new, you go into Gillette Stadium expecting Brady to get his work in against your team.
But when you can put up nearly 500 yards of offense and only come away with 21 points, that has to be disheartening, especially given the fact that the Steelers did so without the services of Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant.
Pittsburgh will be back home this week and are well rested, and will be out to redeem themselves. Big Ben Roethlisberger threw for 351 yards in week one and you can expect more of the same against a stout Niners run D that kept AP and the gang in check on Monday Night.
Antonio Brown and Heath Miller figure to carry the load through the air again and a much fitter DeAngelo Williams was tremendous in his first game as a Steeler, running for 127 yards on 21 carries.
Fresh legs, and the prospect of starting 0-2 should be all the factors that this Steelers team needs to come out firing and get themselves back to the .500 mark.

NFL Betting Trends:
• Under is 8-3 in SF last 11 road games
• Under is 10-1 in PIT last 11 games in Week 2.
• PIT are 8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: UNDER (45)
The Under trends are hard to ignore in this one as the Niners have gone under pretty regularly on the road and the Steelers have had a tendency to play lower scoring games in week 2. Steelers will get their yards, but again, closing out drives is where the question lies.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Pittsburgh 24 – San Franciso 17
Establishing the run early is big for Pittsburgh as the Niners shut off the run against the Vikings and eliminated most scoring threats. The Steelers are just a much better team than Minnesota though and San Fran will get a bit of a wake up call this week.
