The key to preseason games – especially week one of the NFL Preseason – is which team has a lot of depth? It’s all about spotting which team has that nice balance of young up-and-coming talent and veterans that know the system.

Pittsburgh Steelers
When you look at the depth of this Pittsburgh Steelers team they have a nice balance that have been in the system and some talented rookies upcoming.
Landry Jones is still the backup quarterback for the Steelers and third string is Joshua Dobbs.
The key here is figuring out if Jones will get a healthy amount of playing. Obviously, he doesn’t need to prove himself so there’s really no need for him to play too much in this first preseason game, but a quarter would be nice.
Dobbs is the third string quarterback and he has the potential to be a solid backup. He was a quality quarterback at Tennessee and we’ll see if his game transfers to the pro game because we know he will play a good portion of game one.

Plus, the Steelers have a good core out wide that should help out the quarterbacks. Reports are coming in that JuJu Smith-Schuster is making plays in training camp and I would expect the second round pick out of USC to play a good portion of this game.
And, of course, the Steelers also feature Cobi Hamiliton, Justin Hunter, Demarcus Ayers out wide as well that will get quite a few snaps.
On the negative side, Bart Houston has struggled in camp and if he plays a good portion of the game it could lead to a feeding frenzy for the Giants.
New York Giants
The New York Giants don’t have Ryan Nassib at quarterback anymore. Nassib was always a quality DFS play that brought some stability to the Giants. Now, the Giants don’t have that.
We don’t know exactly how the playing time will be allotted, but Josh Johnson and Geno Smith are the second and third string quarterbacks. That’s a bit of a risky proposition.

We should get a decent look at first round pick tight end Evan Engram who will look to add to an already explosive Giants offense. The Giants have plenty of receivers, but haven’t had that playmaking tight end in awhile.
So, we’ll see if Engram can make a name for himself.
Halfback has been a deadzone area for the Giants as well and they hope that fourth round pick Wayne Gallman is their answer. I wouldn’t think that anybody has the halfback starting job locked down so Gallman should see plenty of playing time in this one.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Steelers +2.5
I like the Steelers in this one. I feel they are the deeper team and should be able to cover the spread in this one.
