We finally got a full stale of NFL football this week and the night cap makes it even better. The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to New England to take on Tom Brady and the Patriots.
The Steelers managed to win last year over the Patriots 17-10, but the Patriots are 7-3 in their last 10 meetings. New England has also not lost to Pittsburgh at home since 2008.
Pittsburgh Steelers
This will be a new look Steelers team as they try to reassert their presence in the AFC.
As we know, Antonio Brown is no longer with the team. This may be good though as he is clearly a head case as shown in Oakland now. Regardless, the Steelers will turn to JuJu Smith-Schuster as their top wide receiver. Smith-Schuster was technically considered as the Steelers’ wide receiver 2 last season and still managed to put up 1,426 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The only problem is, he will likely be cover by their opponents best cornerback now that he is the top target.
The Steelers also lost LeVeon Bell to the Jets, but again, it may be for the better. James Conner was basically their featured running back last year after the Bell situation, so look for him to improve on last season.
Big Ben returns under center of course and will need more protection. Yes, he threw for 5,129 yards and 34 touchdowns, but he also had 16 interceptions. Not having Antonio Brown to throw to may be odd at first, but the Steelers will be just fine in the passing game.
The Steelers defense finished at 17th in the league last season, allowing 22.5 points per game. This is the area that needs to improve the most with teams like the Ravens and Browns starting to build quality teams. Facing the Patriots on the road in week 1 is rough, the Steelers have to find a way to get to Brady.

If they can sack him just a couple times or force him to make just one mistake, it could turn the tide of the game big time.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are still the team to beat in the AFC as they have dominated the conference over the last 4 or 5 years. Even the Chiefs could not overpower the Patriots in the AFC Championship.
Like every game the Patriots play, their success starts with Tom Brady. Especially protecting Brady in the pocket so he has time to throw. It seems like this is always happening though and when you watch Brady play, it looks like he has a minute to do whatever he wants.
Their offensive weapons have not changed much as they still have guys who just always find a way to get the job done. Julian Edelman for example, who has made a living in the slot and is one of Brady’s favorite targets.
They have several running backs this year to utilize, including Sony Michel. They also reinstated Josh Gordon, so he is another guy that the defense needs to worry about.
#NFL Week 1 #SNF action sees the #Steelers visiting the #Patriots. The line opened at Pats -7.5 O/U 52.5. We're now seeing the line at -5, -5.5 & -6 and O/U 51. What side are you on for this one?

On defense, the Patriots were actually in the top 10 last year in terms of points allowed per game. They allowed 20.3 and it showed in last years’ Super Bowl. Playing at home will be a big boost and should allow their defense to play with enough intensity to slow down the Steelers.
NFL Betting Trends:
- PIT are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 meetings.
- PIT are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 1.
- NE are 39-16-2 ATS in their last 57 home games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New England Patriots -6
The Patriots almost never lose at home and I think their defense will be able to slow down the Steelers enough to be able to cover.
NFL Free Week 1 Score Prediction: Steelers 17 – Patriots 27
Having home field advantage could be the difference in this game and I see the Patriots coming out on top.
