The spotlight will certainly be on New England this season as they get set to begin preseason play against the Saints.
Both teams enter this season with major expectations, but this one will feature many of the backups as the teams try to get some work in.
New Orleans Saints
The Saint haven’t been a participant in the postseason over the last couple seasons which is a giant red flag for head coach Sean Payton heading into this season.

New Orleans comes in off a 7-9 season, where they actually had plenty of chances to steal the division despite being under .500.
New Orleans will look to build in their receiving corp, that is extremely important given how good Drew Brees is.
Brandin Cooks headlines the corp out wide, but it’s quite the crapshoot after him.

Look for the Saints to give Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead, and Michael Thomas to get a lot of reps this preseason.
While Brees won’t see much action, Luke McCown will get a lot of snaps, especially with the first team.
Brees is so important to this team that his health is the biggest factor throughout the preseason.
New England Patriots
Typically, the preseason is just a waste of time for the Patriots.
They have their entire team pretty much set and it all revolves around Tom Brady.
However, this preseason and the first 4 games of the season are going to be quite different. QB Tom Brady has been suspended for the first 4 games of the regular season, which means Jimmy Garoppolo will get the start.
Jimmy Garoppolo has been taking 50% of the snaps in training camp, as Brady is allowed to participate there.
Come Thursday, Garoppolo will be the sole man getting a majority of the time, as he preps with the first team in game situations to get set for the season.

He has no lack of weapons though around him, from Gronk to a now healthy Edelman.

Free New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots-NFL Prediction:
The Patriots get a major edge here.
Garoppolo needs all the work he can possibly get and there is no better time to get the team chemistry built up than in the preseason.
4* Free NFL Betting Pick: New England -3.5
Look for a lot of time for Garoppolo here in this one, as the Patriots offense does damage here.
