The NFL season is finally here!
The preseason is over and week 1 of the NFL season wraps up on Monday night between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints.
This game will be hyped around the return of Adrian Peterson to Minnesota since being released during the offseason.
The last time the Saints and the Vikings matched up was in 2014 when the Vikings came out ahead 20-9.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints made a major move this offseason signing Adrian Peterson, but many question how he will fit into the Saints pass happy offense, with a crowded backfield.

Peterson has never been known for his pass catching abilities but I expect him to get 10-15 touches in this game. The former All-Pro could end the day with over 75 yards on the ground and a score.
Drew Brees will be on pace for another excellent season throwing the ball, but will be without former first round pick Brandin Cooks, who was traded to New England.
Willie Snead has also been suspended the first 4 games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, so Brees will have to rely on tight end Coby Fleener and speedster Ted Ginn Jr, who can still stretch the field.
Mark Ingram is coming off his best season since entering the league, as he rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns. He will be counted on against this Vikings front seven, which had flashes of brilliance last year.

The defense has never been a strength of the Saints during the Sean Payton era, and I don’t expect them to make a lot of big plays against the Vikings.
Look for second year safety Vonn Bell to be the playmaker in the secondary. Posting 83 tackles last season I expect him to be a force all game long.
Sheldon Rankins is still a force on the inside and should give the Vikings offensive line fits.
Minnesota Vikings
Sam Bradford starts his second year as the Vikings starter firmly entrenched as the team’s quarterback. He brings stability to the position and should have a great game against the Saints defense.
Bradford should put up huge numbers against the Saints secondary, which has routinely given up 30 point games during the Sean Payton era. Look for him to throw for over 300 yards with 3 touchdown passes on the night.
Rookie running back Dalvin Cook will be the player to watch in the Vikings backfield. The talented runner from Florida State could have easily been a first round pick, but slipped to the middle of round 2.
He can catch the ball out of the backfield and should easily surpass 100 total yards on the night and may find the end zone as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, look for cornerback Xavier Rhodes to make an impact against the Saints wideouts. He is coming off a career year with 5 interceptions, and should start 2017 off with a good performance on his half of the field.
Veteran defensive end Everson Griffen should cause havoc on the defensive line for the Vikings. He has 8 or more sacks in 4 of the last 5 seasons, and will get off to a fast start and pick up a sack in this one.
