Has the NFL ever seen a 16.5-point road favorite in the second week of any season ever? If not, this week’s Patriots vs. Dolphins matchup is the first of its kind.
Forget Miami trying to simply avoid an 0–2 hole after two home games to begin its season. It’s just trying to save face after losing by seven touchdowns in Week 1.
New England Patriots
New England was almost as impressive as Miami was terrible on Sunday night. In primetime, the Patriots controlled the game from the start against the Steelers and went on to win, 33–3.

Tom Brady threw for over 340 yards and three touchdowns, the first one to Josh Gordon and the last two to Phillip Dorsett. He handed it off 28 more times to the backfield.
Gordon finished with three catches, Dorsett with four, James White and Rex Burkhead each had five, and Julian Edelman had six. Week 2 has to be a potential debut target for Antonio Brown now that he’s a Patriot. Suddenly, New England has a fearsome receiving corps.
To me, that makes Tom Brady an MVP candidate just like back in the day with Randy Moss and Wes Welker to his left and right.

Consider all of that alongside a defense that may be one of Bill Belichick’s best (Jamie Collins had six tackles in his return to New England in Week 1) and the Patriots should have no problem winning another division title and earning another first round bye.
Miami Dolphins
While the Patriots looked like the best team in the NFL in Week 1, the Miami Dolphins unquestioningly looked like the worst.
Miami played at home against Lamar Jackson and Baltimore, gave up 42 points in the first half, and went on to lose, 59–10.
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed just under half of his passes for 185, a touchdown, and an interception. The running game was nonexistent. Kenyan Drake led the team with 12 yards on four carries. Kalen Ballage got a team-high five carries and finished with one yard less than zero.
Josh Rosen got in the game at the end and went 1-for-3 with an interception. At this point, it’s almost not even worth throwing Rosen out there.
Better to let Fitzpatrick take the hits while the Dolphins try to figure out how to even look like a team that belongs in the NFL.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: stay cautious.
Look, the Patriots should roll. That said, New England doesn’t always blow out the teams it is expected to blow out. There will be a great amount of Week 1 influence on this number, as is always the case in Week 2 but especially because these teams looked so different.
Apologies for deleting prior poll… Sunday Week 2 #NFL betting action we get the New England #Patriots vs. Miami #Dolphins. Line opened with the Patriots a -15 favorite and the O/U at 47. Most books have it at Patriots -19 now, and O/U at 47.5. What say you NFL Bettors?

I’m waiting and seeing if the Dolphins creep up to +17.5. If that happens, I’m considering taking a shot. Otherwise, I’ll pass.
