Sunday afternoon football features a pretty intriguing contest between the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings.
These are two teams that were trending very high at the week 5 and 6 mark, but have since stubbed their toe and are looking to get back into the win column.
Washington Redskins
The Skins started the season with a pair of losses against tough opponents in the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys.

Kirk Cousins and co. turned it around after that and ran off four straight victories that included division wins over the Giants and Eagles in the process.
A 20-17 loss on the road in Detroit took some wind out of their sails however, and they followed that up with a trip to Wembley Stadium in London where they played to a 27-27 tie with the Cincinnati Bengals.
A bye week after their trip overseas is what this team needed to get refocused, and more importantly, get some guys healthy.
Tight End Jordan Reed looked solid in his return from injury against the Bengals, hauling in nine passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Matt Jones should be ready to return from injury but it looks like he’ll have to play his way into getting snaps as coach Jay Gruden liked what he saw from Rob Kelley against the Bengals.
Receiver Desean Jackson exited the game against the Bengals after taking a big hit, but should return this week.
Minnesota Vikings
How much can change in three weeks? Well for the Vikings it’s a lot.
The team that started 5-0 despite no Teddy Bridgewater or Adrian Peterson was looking like a favourite in the NFC a month ago, but now don’t look as if they can beat anyone.
The Vikes’ defence is top three in the NFL, no question, but the offence on this team has looked out of sorts since the turnover-filled first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 7.
Even without turning the ball over, this offence will be hard-pressed to put up points as the run game has been almost non-existent and teams are starting to figure out what QB Sam Bradford can and can’t do in this offence.
Minnesota has managed just 36 points in their last three games. Scoring 12 points per game is just not going to result in very many wins, even with an elite defence.

Luckily for the Vikes, they get a very accommodating Redskins defence this week that gives up nearly 370 yards per game and close to 24 points.
Minnesota needs to find a way to move the football effectively to give their defence some time to catch their breath so that they can get back to what made them a force early on, and that’s by forcing takeaways and giving a mediocre offence some short fields to work with.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Minnesota +2.5
Based solely on recent trends I think it’s just so much more likely that the Skins drop a game sandwiched around a loss and a tie than it is the Vikings lose four in a row.
This Vikings team has playmakers on offence in the form of Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph, and Washington isn’t a top-tier defence by any means.
Washington likes to sling the ball around and they can put up points, but they haven’t seen a defence like Minnesota yet this year.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Minnesota 21 – Washington 17
The Vikings take a lead into halftime for a change (they’ve trailed a the half their last three games). If the Vikes can get out in front at the half, their defence will keep the Skins at bay until the final whistle.
