The Packers host the Vikings Sunday afternoon in an NFC North matchup. In case you forgot, last season during week six, these two teams met and Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken clavicle.
Many have pegged this as a revenge game for Rodgers, but will he even be able to suit up? It looks like he should be able to play, as he has insisted he will, but Mike McCarthy is playing it cautious.

In the last ten H2H games the Packers hold a 5-4-1 advantage, but the Vikings are 4-1 in the last 5 dating back to 2016. Minnesota is a much better team and with a hobbled Rodgers I’m surprised to see the Packers are favored. There’s a lot of value betting the Vikings money line even at Lambeau.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings opened up the season with a 24-16 win at home against the 49ers. Kirk Cousins was able to impress in his first start with his new team, as he went 20/36 for 244 passing TDs and 2 TDs. GB only allowed Mitchell Trubisky to throw 171 yards with 0 TDs, but the team’s secondary isn’t strong.
GB also allowed 139 RYPG (22nd) against the Bears. Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray will contribute to the Vikings run game. Murray rushed for 42 yards (11 carries), while cook rushed for 40 yards (16 carries) and hauled in 6 receptions for 55 yards against the Bears in week 1.

Cook and Murray are a formidable duo, especially when defense have to remain honest because of the signing of Cousins and his weapons. Adam Thielen (6 receptions for 102 yards) and Stefon Diggs (3 receptions for 41 yards and 1 TD) started the season off well and should both cause trouble for GB.
Nick Perry forced a late fumble to seal the Packers win in week 1, but it was the only turnover they were able to force. Cook fumbled once in week 1, but the Vikes protect the football and shouldn’t have a problem moving the football consistently against one of the worst defense in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay always seem to rely on Rodgers to bring them back into games and win. GB were down 17-0 at HT against the Bears after Khalil Mack went nuts. Rodgers was even injured early, but he came back in the 2H and orchestrated a comeback for the ages on primetime SNF.
Minnesota isn’t a team you want to go down to early. Last week the Vikings defense allowed 16 PPG (7th), 237 PYPG (16th) and 90 RYPG (8th). It has been a strong suit for the Vikes in recent years. Now they also have a potent offense and I’m not sure the Packers offense has enough weapons.

Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison all caught TD passes once Rodgers came back in the 2H, but the 1H was brutal. Cobb caught a 75 yard TD in the 4th quarter on a 3rd and 10, but it was due to a busted coverage. I wouldn’t count on the Packers busting many big plays against MIN.
Rodgers is 51-8 at Lambeau in his last 59 home starts and the Packers are 9-4 SU in their last 13 at home, but two of those losses have come against the Vikes, which doesn’t bode well for them.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Minnesota is 13-2 SU in its last 15 games
- Minnesota is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games on the road
- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Minnesota’s last 7 games when playing Green Bay
- Green Bay is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games at home
- The total has gone OVER in 6 of Green Bay’s last 7 games
- Green Bay is 4-8 SU in its last 12 games
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Minnesota Vikings +115
I expect this game to be low scoring, as most H2H games have been. My money is on the road dog to come through with a SU win. You can get the Vikes at +115 if you shop around online.
NFL Free Week 2 Score Prediction: Minnesota 24 – Packers 20
Early action is coming in on the Vikings and I would expect this to be a PK by Sunday. With GB only winning by 1 point last week, those of you that are more cautious may want to take the +1.5 points.
