Both the Chargers and Bills opened up the season with losses. The Bills are going to have a rough season, but the Chargers were expected to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC.
LA opened up the year with a 38-28 loss to the Chiefs. The defense was shredded, but the offense looks like it could be one of the best in the league if Philip Rivers can stay healthy all year.

Buffalo couldn’t have started the season worse. They lost 47-3 on the road to the Ravens. Baltimore isn’t expected to have a great offense this season, so the huge loss is even more worrisome. It’ll be tough to win this week, as the Chargers hold a 9-3 advantage in the last 12 H2H games.
Los Angeles Chargers
Melvin Gordon has to touch the football as often as possible. He rushed for 64 yards (15 carries) and hauled in 9 receptions for 102 yards, but he didn’t find the endzone. Keenan Allen caught 8 passes for 108 yards and 1 TD, while Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams both topped 80+ yards receiving.
Rivers went 34/51 for 424 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. He may be nearing the end of his career, but he can still sling it with the best of them although he has to watch the turnovers. Buffalo was shredded for 252 PYPG (19th) and 117 RYPG (17th). There’s little chance they’ll shutdown the Chargers on Sunday.

Buffalo only had two sacks and didn’t force a single turnover. Rivers will have time in the pocket and he has a lot of weapons at his disposal. In the last 10 games against the Bills, LA have averaged 27.9 PPG, 110.5 RYPG and 228.9 PYPG. Last season the Chargers put up 54 points on the Bills (54-24).
Joey Bosa missed last week with what has been called a foot bruise. He’s heading to a foot specialist on Wednesday for a second opinion and I can’t imagine he’ll play in Buffalo. That hurts the Chargers pass rush, which was evident last week, as they only sacked rookie Patrick Mahomes once.
Buffalo Bills
The first question we need confirmed is who will start at QB? I expect rookie Josh Allen to get his 1st career start on Sunday at home. He came in to relieve Nathan Peterman in the 3rd quarter last week after Peterman completed just 5/18 passes for 24 yards and 2 INTs.
Allen went 6/15 for 74 yards in the 2H after the game was already out of hand. It could have been a bit better if Kelvin Benjamin didn’t drop a sure TD. The Bills are weak at WR and they’ll need LeSean McCoy to perform better. McCoy was held to 22 rushing yards on 7 carries and -1 yard on 1 reception.

The Bills need the pass game to improve quickly or else defenses will be able to stack the box and keep McCoy in check. The Chargers defense allowed 38 PPG (25th), 256 PYPG (20th) and 106th RYPG (11th) in week 1. This is a great opportunity for the Bills offense to build some chemistry.
Buffalo are always tough at home (6-2 SU in last 8 at home). Part of the reason is the weather, but it’s expected to be 77 degrees F on Sunday. Regardless of who starts, they need to protect the football to have any chance at keeping this close. They’ve averaged 2.2 TOPG in the last 10 against LAC.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Los Angeles -7
I’m going to jump on the Chargers at -7 before the hook is added to the spread, as a lot of the early action this week has been coming in on the Chargers to cover against the point spread.
NFL Free Week 2 Score Prediction: Los Angeles 34 – Buffalo 16
The Chargers are only 2-3-1 ATS in the last 6 games in Buffalo, but the Bills are a mess. They don’t even know who will start at QB and McCoy is likely to face stacked boxes all afternoon.
