Two former #1 overall picks will face-off against each other in Indy, with Alex Smith starting under center for the road Kansas City team. The two Quarterbacks could not be more different in styles.

This Sunday morning kickoff is set for 10:00 AM PST in Indianapolis, where Andrew Luck will oppose Smith. Luck is an immense talent who isn’t getting a ton of support from his offensive line, as he’s constantly pressured.
Kansas City Chiefs
Alex Smith is nothing if not efficient, albeit unexciting to watch as a fan. He’s help lead his Chiefs to a 4-2 record, good for 2nd place in the AFC West behind the 5-2 Raiders.
Over his last five seasons, Smith hasn’t had a passer rating of less than 89.1 and currently has tallied a 95.0 mark with 1,511 yards and seven TDs.
His yardage total ranks him 20th overall in the league, behind some QBs such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, who didn’t start for almost an entire game, and others such as Carson Palmer who missed time.
Granted, big stats have never been game-manager Smith’s calling card, that would be his efficiency.
Jamaal Charles is still dealing with injury problems and hasn’t played a full role all season, but the Chiefs are in no hurry to rush him back considering Spencer Ware’s performance.
Ware has looked good thus far, rushing for 492 yards on 95 attempts for an average of 5.2 YPC.
He may have forced his way into the starting role next year if KC decides to move on from Charles, who only has one more season remaining on his contract.

Aside from Smith’s efficiency, Kansas City is known for their impressive defense.
Stars such as Eric Berry, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson and Marcus Peters highlight this strong group, with Peters leading the league in interceptions for a second straight season.
Indianapolis Colts
Andrew Luck is considered a generational quarterback, although he may not be able to last if the team doesn’t get him some help to keep him upright.
Luck on the year has thrown for the third most yards in the league with 2074, and owns a passer rating of 98.3, all while being pressured on a consistent basis and taking a ton of big hits.
The run game has been solidified by the ageless Frank Gore, who at age-33 is still a workhorse back with 495 yards on the season over 117 attempts.
While he’s only recorded two TDs, the run game has also recorded two from change-of-pace back, Robert Turbin.
TY Hilton ranks third amongst wideouts with 689 yards on the season, garnering even more targets from Andrew Luck than normal with fellow WRs Phillip Dorsett and Donte Moncrief both sidelined. (Moncrief will practice this week)
Hilton is tied for the league-lead in targets with 76, alongside Antonio Brown of the Steelers.

In addition to needing an improved offensive line, the Colts will seriously need to address their Swiss Cheese defense if they want to be a true contender in the years to come.
Indy grades out at 29th/32 in yards allowed at 2,798, and 28th overall at points allowed per game at 28.6.
NFL Betting Trends:
• Despite owning a 3-4 record, the Colts sit in 2nd place in the weak AFC West Division
• Frank Gore has recorded at least 1,000 yards rushing in 8 of his past 10 seasons
• The Colts are 2-1 at home this season
• Marcus Peters leads all players in interceptions with seven
• The Chiefs are 1-2 on the road this year
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Kansas City Moneyline
Yes, the respective home and road records look unfavorable for the Chiefs victory here, but by the eyeball test the squad from Kansas City is the far superior team in this matchup.
I expect their Chiefs defense to vastly outperform the Colts’, and Smith is efficient enough to run down the clock and keep Luck off of the field.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Kansas City 24 – Indianapolis 21
It should be a close one, but with Kansas City’s strong run game led by Spencer Ware, they should be able to grind out another win on the road.
Add in that their defense should be able to apply pressure on luck and their secondary being amongst the best in interceptions, I’ll take the Chiefs.
