Carolina heads down to Jacksonville to try and beat the very well-known but underperforming Blake Bortles and his 1-1 Jaguars. It is going to be offense versus defense, who will come out on top?

Carolina Panthers
In Week 2 Carolina’s offense didn’t look good at all, but they did get a HUGE performance from 1st round pick RB Christian McCaffrey.
McCaffrey broke off runs of 16 & 17 yards and had a 38 yards catch in the Panthers’ loss. (He finished with 3 carries for 33 yards, TD, and 2 catches for 39 yards.
Certainly the absences of Newton and Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil didn’t help. Cam Newton’s playing time is the big question of the week so stay tuned for updates on this.
Carolina’s D has also struggled thus far in the preseason. In Week 2 the Titans who were held to just 3 points vs. the Jets scored on their first 3 possessions, as they used one long drive and two Panthers turnovers to grab a nice 17-0 lead.

Jacksonville Jaguars
Last game out the Jags lost in a very odd scoring game of 12-8 (The kind of score you’d find in a CFL game..eh?). They had a total of 370 yards with 239 of those yards coming via the air.
Jacksonville’s defense actually played very well letting them score 12 points in the first half but holding them to zero in the second half.
They had a total of 346 yards with 228 of those yards coming from the passing game. They were also +1 on the turnover ratio which is a big positive for Jacksonville going in to face Carolina.
Bortles was at the helm for quite a few drives last game so you can expect him to play at least some in week three as well, even though the QB competition has apparently been opened due to Bortles recent struggles, and Allen Robinson throwing him under the bus.
Through two preseason games, Bortles is 11 for 18 for 81 yards with no TD’s and zero INT’s, Henne on the other hand is 11 for 16 for 183 yards with one TD.
I wonder if Brandon Allen out of Arkansas be this week’s jackpot winner? Or is Kaepernick’s phone turned on?

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Jacksonville will win
I don’t think we’ll see much of Newton as he continues to rest his surgically repaired shoulder. For that reason I believe that the Jags’ defense will overcome Carolina’s offense. The end result will be a Jacksonville win.
NFL Free Preseason Score Prediction: Carolina 17 – Jacksonville 20
I just hope we get “Good” Blake in this one. Or at the very least “good” Henne.
If Bortles can rediscover any form of a top draft pick the Jags could possibly put up a decent fight in this game.
