2019 Tennessee Titans Predictions: Can Mariota Get Paid?
Marcus Mariota hasn’t been a horrible signal caller as the #2 pick in the 2015 draft, but he’s still only taken Tennessee to the postseason once in his 3 years at the helm. Mariota’s rookie contract is up at the end of the season, so he’ll have to play to get paid.
Mariota threw only 20 passes in the preseason and had just 11TD to 8 INT a season ago. The Titans do get a boost from Andrew Luck retiring from the Colts which became two winnable games vs. Indianapolis.

Tennessee will be a very popular team to bet ‘unders’ on because their offense is largely uninspiring but their defense is also very underrated. The Titans had the #3 team defense in the league a year ago.
2019 New York Jets Predictions: Offense
Mariota posted a 7-6 record in the 13 games he started in 2018. There’s reasons to think that the QB will be better in 2019, but as an insurance policy the team went out and signed Ryan Tannehill to provide starting experience at the #2 spot.
What are those reasons that Mariota will have bigger numbers in 2019? For one, he’s in a contract year which always seems to provide players with incentive. Not only that though, Delanie Walker returns at TE after dislocating his ankle in the first game of the year and missing the final 15 games of the year.
The Titans also have a running game that can strike some feat into opponents behind Derrick Henry who had 1,059 yards last year. Henry has breakout potential as he showed running for 170 yards vs. the Giants in week 14.

One spot the Titans will be a little subpar in, especially at the beginning of the season is offensive line. The major reason for that is starting T Taylor Lewan isn’t eligible until week 5 as he serves a suspension for violating the substance abuse policy.
2019 Tennessee Titans Predictions: Defense
The Titans defense will once again be their strength in 2019. Tennessee had the #3 team defense a season ago which included ranking #6 against the pass.
Tennessee has a very underrated secondary that features Kenny Vaccarro, Kevin Byard, and Malcolm Butler leading the charge. That secondary will get a boost by the addition of pass rusher Cameron Wake who will make the opposition hurry their throws.
The Titans pass defense will be tested in 2019 though. They’ve got games out of the division against the Falcons, Browns, Chargers, Chiefs, and Saints.
2019 Tennessee Titans Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
Expect Tennessee to be in a lot of low scoring games in the upcoming season. They have a bruising running back and a defense that can contain even the best offenses in the NFL.
As always with Tennessee, Mariota’s health will be a major issue to watch especially as he enters his 5th season in the league. Blaine Gabbert played in 8 games a year ago as the Titans 2nd string QB but the team feels they’ve upgraded with the offseason addition of Ryan Tannehill.
The loss of Lewan will hurt the offense, but Tennessee did boost their line with the addition of Rodger Saffold from the Rams in the offseason. Henry and Dion Lewis provide a nice “Thunder and Lighting” backfield approach for Vrabel.
2019 Tennessee Titans Prediction (Final Record): 5-11
The AFC South is very hit or miss depending on how Brissett performs for the Colts and if the Jaguars can return to dominance with the addition of Nick Foles. It’s almost looking like the only division game Tennessee will be favored in is Indianapolis at home but they’ll likely sneak another win in their somewhere.
If they don’t get a win in Oakland late in the year, Tennessee could legitimately go 0-8 on the road in 2019. Away games include at Cleveland, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Denver, Carolina, Indianapolis, Oakland, and at Houston.
This means besides the divisional games, Tennessee will have to pull off a home win against either Buffalo, San Diego, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, or New Orleans to have a respectable record. It’s not looking good for 2019.
