2019 2019 Miami Dolphins: Roster Changes
The Miami Dolphins made a lot of changes this offseason and they were needed. Last season the team went 7-9 with injuries plaguing their season. At quarterback the Dolphins had to go with Brock Osweiler for about half the season due to Ryan Tannehill being hurt.
The Dolphins will have a new signal-caller under center this year. In the offseason they acquired veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and second-year Josh Rosen. Fitzpatrick is expected to begin the season as a starter but if there’s any lack in performance one can expect Rosen, who has a lot of potential to step in.
It will be a whole new look to the Dolphins team due to the fact that Tannehill was their starter over the last six seasons. Tannehill was traded to the Titans.
Fitzpatrick went for 2,366 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 12 games last season. Fitzpatrick completed an impressive 67% of his pass attempts.
The Dolphins lost Frank Gore in free-agency to the Bills. Gore actually led the Dolphins in rushing yards (722 yards) last season. The lose of Gore does open things up for talented Kenyan Drake.
Miami will no longer be without their two leading receivers of last season. Kenny Stills (553 yards) was traded to the Texas while Danny Amendola (575 yards) signed with the Lions in free-agency.
In the 2019 Draft the Dolphins took six players. Christian Wilkins (DL) was selected with the 13th pick and Michael Deiter (OL) was taken in the third round.

2019 Miami Dolphins Predictions: Offense
Last season the Dolphins offense struggled to score at times. The team averaged 20 points a game. It was tough to expect a lot from an offense that was without their starting quarterback at times.
Tannehill, their starter played 11 games. In those contests he went for 1,979 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Miami went 5-6 with Tannehill under center. Osweiler was inconsistent going for 1,247 passing yards, and six touchdowns.
With Gore gone, Kenyan Drake will certainly carry the work load. Drake had 535 yards (4.5 ypc) and four touchdowns while splitting carries with Gore. Kalen Ballage can become a formidable backup as he averaged 5.3 yards per carry last season.
The losses of Stills and Amendola will hurt the offense more than the loss of Gore. Miami’s offensive line is an area of concern as well, especially considering that there quarterbacks aren’t the most athletic guys.
DeVante Parker is expected to step up while Preston Williams may be a guy who can break out this season.

2019 Miami Dolphins Predictions: Defense
Last season the Dolphins defense was a mess as they allowed 433 points which ranked the fifth most in the AFC conference.
The defense is led by Xavien Howard. He is one of the lone bright spots on this team and is a big playmaker. Howard led the league in interceptions with seven. He has 11 overall in his last 17 games.
The loss of Kiko Alonso (Saints) who led the Dolphins in tackles and had three picks will hurt the defense a lot.
Rookie Christian Wilkins who was terrific at Clemson should be an impact player right away. The defensive lineman is versatile and can line up at different spots.
2019 Miami Dolphins Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The Dolphins offense won’t put up big numbers this year. I expect it similar to that of last season. They lost too many pieces on offense. Losing veterans Gore, Amendola, and Stills will be a lot to overcome.
Their running game with Drake and Ballard may have success some days but it won’t be an elite tandem either.
Overall the offense is certainly an area of concern until Rosen, who has a big arm proves himself. The offense doesn’t have enough playmakers to put fear into even the worst defensive teams out there.
The Dolphins defense won’t scare anyone as they have some holes. Replacing Alonso and Robert Quinn (Cowboys) will be something they won’t do successfully.
2019 Miami Dolphins (Final Record Prediction): 5-11
Look for the Dolphins to hang around in some tough games but they won’t pull out many wins. They are simply not talented enough too. Vegas has them winning around 4-5 games for a reason. While Rosen can become a good player in the future and Drake can be solid. It’s not enough.
Beginning the season against the Ravens, Patriots, Cowboys, and Chargers in the first month of the season might put Miami away for good early on.
I wouldn’t recommend betting on the win total since it’s a low number but if you can get it at 5 games go under!
