2017 Seahawks Season Preview & NFL Futures Lines
Looking for 2017 Seattle Seahawks predictions? We’ve got your back. They Seattle Seahawks field one of the best defenses in football, and Russell Wilson doesn’t get the respect he deserves as one of the truly elite players at his position. But the team has really been held back by its offensive line in recent seasons, and that really caught up with them last year when their rushing attack completely dried up.

For whatever reason, the offensive line wasn’t enough of a priority in the offseason, with the team taking a couple flyers in hopes of solidifying that unit rather than spending some high draft picks or adding a free agent or two.
This team is so talented everywhere else that they’ll go as far as that group can take them – and with only one other true contender for the NFC West, they’ll likely find themselves in the playoffs again.
2017 Seattle Seahawks Predictions: Roster Changes
The biggest offseason move pertaining to the Seahawks didn’t impact the current roster at all, as the team traded the rights to Marshawn Lynch to the Oakland Raiders for a draft pick, and the Bay area native will now play for his hometown Raiders.

To offset that, general manager John Schneider signed former Packers running back Eddie Lacy. Last season, Seattle’s running game ranked 25th in the league after ranking third, fourth, first, and third the previous four seasons.
Now Lacy comes in to be the back that can wear down opposing defenses the way Lynch did – that’s the hope, anyway.
Lacy will have just as much trouble running the ball as Lynch did in his final season in Seattle though as the team again neglected its struggling offensive line.
The team threw some darts with free agent acquisitions Luke Joeckel and Oday Aboushi, and (play every position on the O-Line) second round pick Ethan Pocic out of LSU.
If nothing else, the group will have more depth than it has in year’s past, but they won’t be the kind of elite group a team that wants to run as much as the Seahawks does needs them to be.
The defensive secondary was bitten hard by the injury bug a year ago, so Schneider added some depth in the draft with Shaq Griffin and Delano Hill in the third round, and Tedric Thompson and Mike Tyson (not that Mike Tyson) later on in the draft.

Depth along the defensive line has also improved with second round pick Malik McDowell (check injury status) and third rounder Nazair Jones.
2017 Seattle Seahawks Predictions: Offense
The offense will again be held back by the offensive line, assuming all the new pieces don’t have career years. The ground game is always the key for this offense, but there are a lot of questions for that unit beyond the offensive line.
Thomas Rawls missed seven games last season, Lacy only played in five himself, and C.J. Prosise missed all but six.
Wilson’s done a great job of evading would-be sackers and keeping the passing game relevant, but this offense is ultra-reliant on that ground game to keep moving.
It’ll be interesting to see how much responsibility he can take on if the ground game fails again as it did last year.
2017 Seattle Seahawks Predictions: Defense
Every assessment of the defense goes out the window if the team does indeed trade Richard Sherman, as we saw a similar move cripple the Carolina Panthers a year ago, but with a lot of attention paid to the depth of that unit, they should remain the strength of this team, as they’ve been for years.
2017 Seattle Seahawks Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The Seahawks always make things work on defense. That’ll be the side of the ball that opponents really dread going up against.

Tom Cable is widely regarded as one of the best offensive line coaches in football, and he’s really got his work cut out for him this year.
2017 Seattle Seahawks Prediction (Final Record): 10-6
The Seahawks have a lot of warts this season. We’re used to seeing them turn out one of the best rosters in football, but there are just too many question marks to justify backing them at their current rates on the futures board.
