Pittsburgh NFL Handicapping Insight
2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total Odds: Over 10.5 (-115)
The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the 2016 season with a very successful year. He finished with an 11-5 record and first place in the AFC North. They eventually lost 36-17 to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
But they did have some turmoil this off season. Ben Roethlisberger left some hints that he might have played his final game and would retire, but he decided to come back for at least one more year.
Le’Veon Bell also has stated he won’t play under the franchise tag this year, and the two sides are a long ways off from reaching a long term deal.

Although many believe that he will end up playing under the franchise tag this year, it is still a big question if he will suit up for the Steelers this year.
Steelers Win Total Odds: Key Additions
The Pittsburgh Steelers were pretty strapped for cash this off season, so they couldn’t make many moves in free agency. They signed defensive tackle Tyson Alualu from the Jacksonville Jaguars who should be more of another nice depth guy on that line.
In the draft they were pretty big players drafting a lot of big name guys. With their first round pick they signed outside linebacker TJ Watt from Wisconsin.
In the second round they picked up another weapon for Big Ben in JuJu Smith-Schuster, a wide receiver from USC.
Their most interesting draft pick was in round four. They signed Josh Dobbs, the guy they hope can be the quarterback of the future for this team.
Steelers Win Total Odds: Key Departures
Just like the Steelers didn’t acquire too much in free agency, they also didn’t lose too much in free agency.

They lost inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons to the Miami Dolphins and wide receiver Markus Wheaton to the Chicago Bears.
The biggest loss they will probably feel from that group is Lawrence Timmons. He was a leader for many years in the locker room of the Steelers.
Steelers Win Total Odds: Season Preview
The Steelers have mostly everyone coming back from a team that had a very successful season last year. They have one of the best offenses in the NFL if they can stay healthy but that is a big if.
Big Ben seems to miss at least a couple games every year and that has really hurt the Steelers win totals the last couple years, and you almost have to factor that in when you think about the over/under that this team can accomplish.
The other big question is with Le’Veon Bell and if he will play under the franchise tag. If he decides to sit the year out, or even a few games, the running back position went from a strength, to a weakness, just with the loss of one player.
2017 Steelers Win Total Odds: Under 10.5 (-115)
I think the Steelers will have another nice season this year, but I don’t see them getting over ten wins. I think Big Ben will get another injury that will knock him out of a couple games.
I also think the defense still has some ways to go and the offense will have some trouble bailing them out of games like they were able to last year.

I also expect the AFC North to be a little more competitive this year, and they will have another loss or two on the conference schedule. I think that the Steelers will finish the season with nine or ten wins.
