2017 Eagles Season Preview & NFL Futures Lines
Looking for 2017 Philadelphia Eagles predictions? We’ve got your back. A hot start by Carson Wentz had the Eagles looking like they were poised to hit the fast forward button on their rebuild efforts, but the team got a quick reminder they drafted a project player at quarterback, failing to reach the .500 mark by the end of the season. This year they’ve tried to make things easier on Wentz with the addition of some top-flight pass-catchers as they look to climb out of the NFC East cellar.

2017 Philadelphia Eagles Predictions: Roster Changes
The Eagles continue to further distance themselves from the Chip Kelly era, letting pass-rusher Connor Barwin, defensive tackle Bennie Logan, and cornerback Nolan Carroll all walk in the offseason, as did Leodis McKelvin, but frankly, after the season McKelvin had, that was addition by subtraction.

Coming in to fill those voids on the defensive line are free agents Chris Long and Timmy Jernigan, along with first round pick Derek Barnett.
But the big money was spent on offense, where the team loaded up in a big way with free agent wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith.
Jeffery is the big roll of the dice, as the team signed him to a one-year, $9.5 million contract. They’re hoping he takes a liking to Doug Pederson’s offense and develops a quick rapport with Wentz and decides to stay.
Pederson now has the depth he needs at wide receiver to better run his offense after having to line up in two tight end sets even in obvious passing situations due to a lack of receiver depth.
The team also added running back LeGarrette Blount late in the offseason. He’ll likely be the go-to guy on early downs, while ceding work to the team’s other backs in passing situations.
2017 Philadelphia Eagles Predictions: Offense
Wentz has the arm to sling the ball all over the field, and with the kinds of receivers he now has at his disposal, this offense could be pretty explosive assuming everyone’s able to get on the same page in a hurry.
When Wentz drops back to pass there will be new faces all around him, with the exception of slot receiver Jordan Matthews.

Blount’s path to carries is easy to see. He’ll get most of the early down work and goal line carries. But beyond that there are a lot of backs who’ll be expecting touches.
Donnel Pumphrey was a good addition in the fourth round, but he joins a crowded backfield that already includes Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, and Wendell Smallwood. The team will also hope it can squeeze one more good year out of the now 35-year-old Jason Peters.
2017 Philadelphia Eagles Predictions: Defense
The team went through a pretty significant re-shuffling in the offseason, most notably with the faces moving in and out along the defensive line. Both starting cornerbacks from a year ago are gone, with veteran Patrick Robinson joining second-round pick Sidney Jones and third-round pick Rasul Douglas rounding out the group.
Jim Schwartz’s defense isn’t overly complicated so the new players shouldn’t have much issue picking it up.
2017 Philadelphia Eagles Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The passing attack is going to be this team’s bread and butter. Whether they get the Carson Wentz of the first month of the season or the latter half of the season will determine how likely a playoff push will be.
But for a team in a rebuild (whether it accepts that or not) they should be happy with the way this unit puts up points.

The defense has question marks all over the field, and with Jones likely to miss some time due to a torn Achilles, it’s going to mean another year of opposing cornerbacks feasting on this Eagles secondary.
2017 Philadelphia Eagles Prediction (Final Record): 5-11
The Eagles have a lot of work to do in getting this roster back to what it was 10 years ago under Andy Reid’s watch.
The Chip Kelly era, which saw the team jettison some of its top stars has caught up with them, and the growing pains of breaking in a new quarterback will still be felt this season.
