New York NFL Handicapping Insight
2017 New York Jets Win Total Odds: Under 4.5 (-175)
The New York Jets had a disappointing 2016 season, and it doesn’t look like any relief is in site.
They finished the 2016 season with a 5-11 record which put them in fourth place in the AFC East.
What’s the biggest question facing this Jets team?

I don’t think there is just one big question facing this years team, there is a ton of them. Do they have enough talent to win games? Who is going to be their starting quarterback?
Is it time for a coaching change? Those are only a few questions facing this team going into this year.
Jets Win Total Odds: Key Additions
The New York Jets weren’t super busy in free agency, but most of the moves they made were to try and improve the offense. They signed offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum from Jacksonville to a three year deal.
They signed NFL journeymen Josh McCown who gives them another option at quarterback. They also signed kickerChandler Catanzaro who they hope can be consistent this year.
In the draft they went secondary early on. With their first pick they took safety Jamal Adams from LSU, and with their second pick they took safety Marcus Maye from Florida.
With the pieces they lost from the secondary these two guys are going to be counted on early to not only play, but make impact plays.
Jets Win Total Odds: Key Departures
The Jets lost a lot of big name talent this off season to free agency. At the wide receiver position they lost their top two guys in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

At the quarterback position they lostRyan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith. Both of these guys had disappointing tenures with the Jets and it was time for both of them to move on.
the biggest though that they lost was on the defensive side of the ball. They decided not to resign corner back Darrelle Revis. Revis and his island were the cornerstone of this defense since he came into the league, and if nothing else it was a big loss in the locker room.
Jets Win Total Odds: Season Preview
With all the questions facing this Jets team it’s going to be hard to have a successful season, unless some of those questions can be answered soon.
The biggest thing they need to figure out is who is going to be playing quarterback for them. The race is down to three guys with Josh McCown, Bryce Petter, and Christian Hackenberg all having a chance to be the week one starter.
Whoever wins the job is going to have a lot of pressure on him. He won’t have a ton of weapons around him so a lot of the offense will be placed on his shoulders.
On the defensive side there is also a lot of questions. A lot of how well the defense will play comes down to how fast the rookies can learn the defense, and how well they can play in the system.
If they can step up big the back end of the defense might not be as bad as expected.
2017 Jets Win Total Odds: Under 4.5 (-175)
With the under 4.5 at -175 there isn’t a ton of value in this bet but the under is the good bet here for sure.

This team just has too many questions and not enough good players on the the team right now. There will be a lot of struggles no matter who is the quarterback that starts this year.
Personal wise this is the worst team in football and it will show in the results on the field. I think if this team wins three games that would be a shock.
