Vikings NFL Handicapping Insight
2017 Vikings Under 8.5 (-115)
The Minnesota Vikings season last year was doomed before it even started.
Teddy Bridgewater went down with a horrific knee injury right before the last pre-season game so the Vikings made a trade for Sam Bradford.
They started off the season 5-0 and then they hit a mid season lull. They finished the season with a 8-8 record which put them in third place in the NFC North.

But now Sam Bradford has had an entire off-season with his nose in the playbook and with all his players and the Vikings are expecting a big step forward this year. Mike Zimmer should have the defense ready to go and the expectations are high around this team.
Vikings Win Total Odds: Key Additions
One of the biggest problems with last year with the Vikings was their offensive line. They couldn’t keep anyone away from the quarterback, and they couldn’t open up any holes in the running game.
This year they brought in left tackle Riley Reiff and right tackle Mike Remmers who both should be able sure up that offensive line this year.
With the departure of Adrian Peterson they knew they needed to bring in some more running backs. They signed Latavius Murray from the Raiders and moved up in the second round to take Dalvin Cook.
Both should be able to help improve a run game that ranked near the bottom of the NFL in every category last year.
Vikings Win Total Odds: Key Departures
The face of the Franchise is gone in Adrian Peterson but on the field results he might not be the biggest loss. With all the injuries he has gone through in the last few years the Vikings have gotten used to him not the field.

They also lost left tackle Matt Kalil who went to join his brother in Carolina.
The loss the Vikings will probably feel the most is Captain Munnerlyn. He played the slot for the Vikings the last few years and was very good at it. Second year player Mackensie Alexander will have to step up big in that position this year.
Vikings Win Total Odds: Season Preview
A lot of the experts are projecting the Vikings to have a down year this year but I Just don’t see that happening.
They have improved every position that was a position of need and Bradford is going to have a full off season to work with Pat Shurmur, who he has always thrived under.
I think even without Adrian Peterson the Vikings got better this off season at the running back position and that Dalvin Cook will be the best rookie running back this year.
I think the defense will still be the strength of this team and that will take a lot of pressure off the offense.
2017 Vikings Win Total Odds: Over 8.5 (-115)
The Minnesota Vikings will cover the over this year. They had a terrible finish to the last year and still were able to finish with eight wins.
Zimmer has said he made some mistakes last year after the bye and I don’t think he will let that happen again. Zimmer will have his guys ready the whole season and their won’t be any quit this year.

They also have a pretty easy schedule compared to what could have been. They don’t have any stretches of really tough teams in a row so that should help them out.
