2017 AFC East Predictions: Buffalo Bills
Bills Odds to Win 2017 Super Bowl: +10000
Bills Odds to Win 2017 AFC Conference: +4000
Bills Odds to Win 2017 AFC East Division: +700
Since 2001, the AFC East has belonged to the New England Patriots. The Pats have won the division eight consecutive times and in 13 of the past 14 seasons.
There’s little reason to expect this to be the year one of the other three teams in the division rises above the Pats, but let’s take a quick run through the teams to see if there’s any value to be found.
The Bills’ front office and coaching staff saw big changes in the offseason, which, frankly, were probably long overdue and bode well for the future of the franchise, but the immediate success they seem to think is coming doesn’t look imminent to anyone outside the organization.

The rumors the team was going to shoot itself in the foot and let Tyrod Taylor – the only serviceable quarterback the team’s fielded in the last decade – is back and will start under center. Sammy Watkins should be healthy for the start of the season to be his top option.
Anthony Lynn should keep the defense humming, but not at a level that will justify backing the Bills to win anything meaningful this season.
2017 AFC East Predictions: Miami Dolphins
Dolphins Odds to Win 2017 Super Bowl: +5000
Dolphins Odds to Win 2017 AFC Conference: +2500
Dolphins Odds to Win 2017 AFC East Division: +500
The Dolphins are another team that seem to think they’re closer to being competitive than they actually are. The team acquired tight end Julius Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars, which puts the failed Jordan Cameron experiment to bed.
The emergence of running back Jay Ajayi lends some hope to the offense, as does the return of a motivated Jarvis Landry who’s due to get paid soon, but as long as this offense has Ryan Tannehill at the controls there’s a glass ceiling looming over the team’s head.
Every time it looks like Tannehill’s ready to take the next step, he puts together a poor month and we all go back to forgetting about him.
2017 AFC West Predictions: New England Patriots
Patriots Odds to Win 2017 Super Bowl: +375
Patriots Odds to Win 2017 AFC Conference: +190
Patriots Odds to Win 2017 AFC East Division: -550
When the Patriots make a splash in the offseason it usually involves draft picks, trading away one of their star players, or bringing in some player who wore out his welcome with another organization.
But this year the club went out and acquired wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints to give Tom Brady a young, talented deep threat who can take the top off a defense.

Brady’s long ball isn’t what it once was, but it’ll be interesting to see if Cooks can run under some of those balls Chris Hogan wasn’t able to a year ago.
LeGarrette Blount’s future still remains up in the air, but they signed former-Bill Mike Gillislee and former-Bengal Red Burkhead, who’ll join James White and Dion Lewis for a backfield that will give defenses fits by attacking from all angles.
Not moving Jimmy Garoppolo was a curious decision given that his value seemed to be at an all-time high, and Martellus Bennett seemed like a really good fit, but there’s still plenty of talent in New England.
2017 AFC East Predictions: New York Jets
Jets Odds to Win 2017 Super Bowl: +20000
Jets Odds to Win 2017 AFC Conference: +10000
Jets Odds to Win 2017 AFC East Division: +3300
With all the draft picks the Jets have spent on quarterbacks in recent years, it looks like their Week 1 starter will be Josh McCown. Let that soak in for a minute.
Ryan Fitzpatrick’s gone, as is Brandon Marshall, which opens up a lot of targets for Eric Decker and Matt Forte, who will need to put the offense on their backs if they’re ever going to move the ball.
They’ll each have a few big games, but more often than not this offense is going to be ugly. And the defense took a big step back last year, so there’s not much hope they’ll be bailed out on that side of the ball.

From a betting perspective, your ticket won’t look pretty, but there are few surer bets on the board than the Patriots winning the AFC East for the ninth consecutive season.
