Well, they didn’t quite get that all over again last season when Andrew Luck missed time with injury as the team went 6-3 without him, but there was never any hope for that group making it to the summit.
For the first time since he entered the league there are now those doubting the former No. 1 overall pick’s ability to lead the Colts after an ugly season plagued by turnovers and inconsistent play.
Whether he played with injured ribs or not, it was a bad luck for the former Stanford star. The team added some veterans with an eye on the Super Bowl just one year removed from the AFC title game and instead fell flat on its face.
Now, can the team bounce back in 2016?
2016 Colts Roster Changes
Adding veterans like Andre Johnson and Frank Gore didn’t work for the team in the 2015 offseason. So, this season’s trip to free agency wasn’t nearly as flashy.
Johnson was one of the guys who left town, along with starters Coby Fleener, Jerrell Freeman, Dwight Lowery. A couple other veterans who didn’t quite pan out last season walked in guard Todd Herremans and cornerback Greg Toler.
The only flashy addition was cornerback Patrick Robinson, who joins the squad after a good year in San Diego with the Chargers.

The team used its first-round pick on center Ryan Kelly.
He’s a good add, but center is a tough position for even veteran lineman, so he’ll have to learn quickly on the job.
2016 Indianapolis Colts Predictions: Offense
No franchise has been more reliant on its star quarterback over the last 20 years than the Colts, and that will be true once again this season.
There’s reason to believe Luck bounces back and has another big year with something to prove this time. He’s got the receivers to do it.

For all the criticism Gore received in his first year in Indianapolis, he was a pretty steady force on a team that was never consistently in the lead and able to use him for what he does best.
With Luck back and healthy, there should be bigger running lanes for Gore, and more leads for him to run out.
T.Y. Hilton is cemented as option 1A in the passing game with Luck-favorite Coby Fleener gone. Hilton has some young and improving running mates in Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of year Dwayne Allen has as a receiver with Fleener gone. He’s been a top option around the goal line when healthy.
2016 Indianapolis Colts Predictions: Defense
The Colts have a lot of talent on the defensive line and at cornerback, but losing Freeman is a major blow to the linebacking corps. D’Qwell Jackson is now locked into a spot in the middle despite a second consecutive poor season.
The safeties are young and unproven, but adding Robinson to play alongside Vontae Davis makes cornerback one of the strongest positions on the team.

Keeping those guys healthy and on the field will be key.
2016 Indianapolis Colts Analysis:
In the first three years under Luck and Chuck Pagano, and the Colts compiled a 33-15 record, so there’s certainly reason to expect a turnaround.
The AFC South is starting to come around, so it’s not going to be the pushover the team enjoyed in those first three seasons, and the Colts have given up the mantle as favorites to win the division – that’s now the Houston Texans.
But Luck’s been so good at times that it’s difficult to imagine he won’t get back to that high level if he’s fully healthy.
Expect the team to get to around 10 wins and into the wild card conversation this year.
