Miami has turned in back to back 2 point victories to climb within 1 game of UNC for the top spot. As for the Hokies, their struggle of season continues as they sit just 1 game above the .500 mark and at just 5-7 in the conference.
Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech had a chance to go for the season series sweep over the Cavaliers last time out, but things didn’t go quite according to plan. The Hokies were routed and shutdown by the Cavaliers 67-49, as they just haven’t had the fire power offensively this season.
On the season, the Hokies have averaged just just 67.3 points per road contest this season. Their road play has been just abysmal as they are 2-5 SU away from home and are allowing 76.0 points per game.

Zach LeDay has been the leader of the Hokies as he averages 15.6 points per game to go along with 8.1 rebounds. The problem for LeDay and the Hokies has been when LeDay isn’t out on the court, Va Tech hasn’t produced. That was the such case against the Cavaliers as LeDay went into foul trouble and Virginia Tech completely collapsed.
Chris Clarke has also returned from a foot injury and put in 11 points in just 13 minutes of action last time out. Clarke had missed 12 straight games and will be a key contributor if the Hokies hope to make a push during the ACC tourney.
Miami
Back to back two point victories has propelled Miami to #10 in the nation and has set them up for a race to finish the UNC for the regular season ACC Title.
Miami posted wins over Pittsburgh and then Florida State thanks in large part to Sheldon McClellan.
McClellan has averaged 16.3 points on 52% shooting this season, but they key for Miami has been when he hits the 20 point mark. The Hurricanes are a perfect 11-0 over the past 2 seasons when he hits that plateau. He hit right on it in the win over FSU as he put in 20 points.
Angel Rodriguez has also been a giant contributor to the Hurricanes as he is averaging 11.4 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists. He has also been solid in the turnover department averaging just 1.3 per contest.
Miami has gone 12-1 SU at home and has been a stellar 8-3-1 ATS during that span.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Hokies are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Hokies are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
- Hokies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games.
- Hurricanes are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a straight up win.
- Hurricanes are 18-8-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
- Hurricanes are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games following a ATS win.
Free CBB Prediction:
The Hokies have been a solid ATS team, but they just haven’t been able to get over the hump this season.
This team has the defense to keep this one close, but in the end, look for Miami to be just too motivated here to keep pushing toward the ACC title.
