The only way either of these teams is going to make the Tournament is to steal the SEC automatic bid.
Still there could be some juice here as these schools are geographic rivals.
Tennessee has proven to be quite the team to handle on their home floor this season.
Vanderbilt Commodores
I think when the Aggies brought in coach Bryce Drew they would take the next step forward but it looks like this season is a step back.
Although, with wins in three of their last four including home to South Carolina and on the road against Arkansas maybe they are peaking at the right time.
They can’t stop now if they want to play deep into March.

This is not a deep Vandy team, they basically play 7 guys most nights. They are led by Matthew Fisher-Davis, who continues to improve his game every year.
Senior center Luke Kornet continues to be an enigma.
At 7’1″ he should be more of a force inside but he prefers the perimeter. He can shoot but they need more from him, especially on the glass and on defense.
Jeff Roberson is undersized up front but leads the team in rebounds. Not an elite talent he gives maximum effort.
There is enough talent for Vandy to win this one. They will take a lot of three and if they are falling it will be a game.
Tennessee Volunteers
When the Vols beat Kentucky at home it caught people’s attention. Unfortunately it was not quite the turning point the Orange faithful had hoped for.
Robert Hubbs is a nice player, an old school SG who is about getting to the hoop not bombing away from deep. He has made a nice leap as a senior but it one of just two players averaging more than 9ppg for Tennessee.
The other is undersized PF Grant Williams, the freshman is having a very strong rookie season – he has had two 30 point games.

There is not a lot of length to this team so they might have trouble with Kornet if the Commodores choose to feature him at all.
Tennessee has been much better at home this season. They are definitely a rhythm team and when they are feeling good they can play with anyone in the conference.

Free Vanderbilt Commodores vs Tennessee Volunteers NCAAB Prediction:
The Vols are the favourite at home. Hard to argue with that. The line is making it look like that is the only reason they are favoured.
This is a tough call, especially given that Tennessee has not been great lately.

Hoping the Vols have broke out of their recent funk by pounding Mizzou. Ready to get back on them tonight.
