Friday night, January 18th brings you an exciting Atlantic 10 college basketball matchup between the St. Joseph’s Hawks and the Saint Louis Billikens live from the Chaifetz Arena.
St. Joseph’s is coming off a 61-60 win over Davidson on Tuesday night while Saint Louis beat Fordham 63-60, also on Tuesday night. Saint Louis won the last meeting between these two last January by a score of 60-59.
St. Joseph’s Hawks
The Hawks are getting off to a slow start to begin their Atlantic 10 conference schedule, winners of only one of their first five league games. They sit in 12th place in the A-10, a win here on the road is not very likely seeing as they have only one road victory on the year.
St. Joseph’s have struggled to score the ball with any sort of regularity over their past five games with a high of 84 and a low of 47 giving them an average of 61.6 points per game. Their defense hasn’t been any better, with their opponents scoring an average of 74.6 points per game. In their last four losses they have lost by an average of 16.75 points per game.

Senior G Chris Clover led all scorers last time out against Davidson with 18 points in 34 minutes. Freshman G Jared Bynum came close to a triple-double with 12 points, 9 assist an 7 rebounds. Senior G Troy Holston added 11 points in 21 minutes off the bench for the Hawks in the win.
Injury Report: Guards Lamarr Kimble and Ryan Daly, as well as F Pierfrancesco Oliva are all listed as “out” for Friday’s game.
Saint Louis Billikens
The Billikens come into this game winners of five in a row, and I don’t see them stopping their winning ways in this game. They sit at the top of the A-10 with a perfect 4-0 conference record to go with their current 10-0 home record.
Saint Louis has averaged 68.4 points per game over their last five games, and have given up only 58.8 over that stretch. The average margin of victory for the Billikens over that same stretch of games is 10.8 points per game. They should be able to stretch that number even farther against the Hawks.

Sophomore G Jordan Goodwin led all scorers in their win over Fordham with 20 points in 36 minutes, he also added 9 rebounds and a team high 6 assists. Senior G Jevon Bess had 17 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Freshman G Fred Thatch Jr. led all bench players in scoring for Saint Louis with 7 points in 21 minutes of action.
Injury Report: F KC Hankton is listed as “questionable” for Friday nights game, and F Elliott Welmer is listed as “out.”
CBB Betting Trends:
- Hawks are 2-6 ATS in last 8 games overall
- Hawks are 25-9-1 ATS in last 35 Friday games
- Billikens are 13-3 S/U in last 16 home games
- Billikens are 36-16 ATS in last 52 games vs. Atlantic 10 foes
Free St. Joseph’s Hawks vs. Saint Louis Billikens NCAAB Prediction:
The Billikens are in first place in the conference for a reason. They are a really good basketball team, and they are on their way to making another Tournament appearance at the end of the season it seems.
St. Joseph’s will need a lot of help slowing down this Saint Louis team on Friday night, and I just don’t think the talent is there on their roster. Stranger things have happened, and conference play is always tough, but I just don’t think they can pull it off in this game.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: St. Louis ATS
Take Saint Louis to win this game at home as they continue to run away with the conference lead.
