Two teams that have been thrashed by COVID will be squaring off in Missouri as the Richmond Spiders will travel to Saint Louis to take on the Billikens.
Richmond is currently riding a two-game winning streak after taking down UMass over the weekend, while Saint Louis is on a two-game losing streak after losses to Dayton and VCU.
Richmond Spiders
Coming down the stretch of the regular season the Spiders have been rolling winning four of their last five contests. The Spiders’ lone loss during that span came in a 68-56 setback at VCU last Wednesday.
The Spiders have been an excellent offensive team this year, listed at No. 22 in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency ratings. They take care of the ball really well, turning the ball over the seventh-fewest times in college basketball. Senior guard Blake Francis leads Richmond with 16.6 points and 2.3 assists. He has averaged at least 16.5 points in each of his last three seasons, but he is shooting a career-worst 34.4 percent from beyond the arc right now. Senior forward Grant Golden is scoring 13.4 points and is grabbing 6.4 rebounds. He had 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists in Tuesday’s win over UMass. He injured his hand at the end of the Umass game and is questionable for this game, so look out for that update.
Richmond averages 76.22 points per game this season which is 68th in the nation. They shoot 48.19% from the field and average 35.40% from behind the three-point line.
They surrender an average of 68.78 points per game which is 135th in the country. Opponents are shooting 46.42% from the field when facing the Spiders and 31.42% from beyond the arc.
Saint Louis Billikens
Billikens come into this game with a shocking 3-6 conference record after starting out 7-1 in non-conference play. They dropped back-to-back games at Dayton and VCU last week to move them to 8th in the A-10 conference. I’m not saying this is a must-win for Saint Louis with the A-10 tournament on the horizon, but their chances will be very slim to get an at-large birth without a win against the Spiders.
The Billikens have struggled to find their shooting stroke in conference games, but the guards continue to perform at a high level. Senior guard Javonte Perkins leads Saint Louis with 17.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He has scored at least 16 points in four of his last five outings. Senior guard Jordan Goodwin is averaging a double-double, scoring 14.7 points and grabbing 10.5 rebounds. He had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to VCU on Tuesday.
The Billikens are averaging 76.13 points per game but only 68.4 points in conference games this season. On average, they are shooting 46.22% from the floor and 34.06% from beyond the arc.
On the defensive side of the ball, Saint Louis gives up an average of 64.56 points per game which is 45th in the nation. Opponents are shooting just 40.82% from the floor and only 33.03% from three-point range.

Free Richmond Spiders vs. Saint Louis Billikens NCAAB Prediction:
I like Saint Louis and the points in this game. I think the Billikens will play this game with their backs against the wall. They haven’t looked the same since coming off of a long COVID pause and this game is a must-win to hold on to their at-large hopes.
Saint Louis has been a much better team at home than on the road this season covering nine out of their last 12 games at Chaifetz Arena. Yuri Collins needs to get back to his earlier season form. The sophomore guard is averaging just 4.4 points per game since contracting COVID and his season average has now dropped to just 5.5 points compared to the 7.0 points per game prior to the shutdown.
