Do you remember the last time Kansas was a 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament? It was 2006 and the Bradley Braves knocked the Jayhawks out in the first round.
Northeastern has been in the NCAA Tournament exactly once since 1992. It lost in the first round of that lone appearance.
Northeastern Huskies
The Huskies lost as a 14-seed in 2015. This season, it has a slightly better chance of advancing, in theory, but mighty Kansas showed some resurgence in the Big-12 Tournament.
Northeastern was an underdog in the Colonial Athletic Conference Tournament to Hofstra but it held down the Pride’s powerful offense and went 14-for-31 from 3-point range itself to earn the automatic bid.

Vasa Pusica, a senior from Serbia, hit seven out of his 12 attempts. He scores nearly 18 points per game on better than 40 percent from outside this season and even chips in better than four dimes per game.
The Huskies run basically a seven-man rotation and each guy averages at least eight points per game. Four are juniors and two are seniors, along with a lone sophomore.
Northeastern may not have the pedigree to match Kansas but this year’s team has a strong identity and senior leadership to throw at Kansas.
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas failed to win the Big-12 in the regular season and nearly made up for some of it in the conference tournament before falling to Iowa State by double-digits in the championship game.
But KU’s run to the title wasn’t particularly impressive. It edged out Texas and then beat West Virginia, the 10-seed that upset Texas Tech in the round prior. Those two wins and a fairly substantial loss to ISU doesn’t add up to much.

LaGerald Vick never came back to the Jayhawks and KU just doesn’t have the depth to throw at its opponents this year. I just can’t imagine it’s a long run for Kansas, which is a shame because the committee did it a favor by putting it in the Midwest.
CBB Betting Trends:
- NE are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Thu. games.
- Over is 10-4 in NE last 14 non-conference games.
- KU are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games as a favorite.
- Over is 12-4-1 in KU last 17 non-conference games.
- Over is 8-3 in KU last 11 neutral site games.
Free Northeastern Huskies vs. Kansas Jayhawks NCAAB Prediction: Kansas survives and advances.
But I think this is it for the Jayhawks, who will go down to either Auburn or New Mexico State on Saturday. The number feels about right in this one. The Jayhawks are going to want to run and push, while Northeastern will be happy to slow things up.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Northeastern +8
This is a lean for me.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: Northeastern 68 – Kansas 75
