The Champions Classic gives us a solid early season matchup as the #5 Kansas Jayhawks take on the #13 Michigan State Spartans.
While both teams are expected to be a 1 or 2 seed come March, this is a phenomenal chance to grab a resume building win early on that could get them over that hump as top seed come tournament time.

Both the Spartans and Jayhawks return a majority of their rosters as the Spartans return 9 top scorers while the Jayhawks get 4 starters back.
Tip off is estimated for 10:00 PM EST or 30 minutes after the Kentucky-Duke game concludes.
Kansas:
If Kansas can consistently shoot the 3 pointer like they did in their season opener, this team will not only make a push for the top spot in the Big 12, but will also make a push at the top spot in the country.
The Jayhawks drilled 15 3 pointers in their season opening win over Northern Colorado on Friday. Kansas racked up 109 points in total and had 5 players score in double figures in the win.

Leading the way for the Jayhawks was Brannen Greene who dropped in 18 points. Greene’s feat is quite impressive considering he averaged just 5.7 points last season.
Also contributing in a big way was last season’s top 3 scorers. Perry Ellis put in 16, Wayne Selden had 15, and Frank Mason III had 11 points and also 9 assists to his credit.
Kansas is still waiting to hear about the eligibility of freshman Cheick Diallo. Diallo stands at 6-9 and would provide an inside presence for Kansas that would make this team extremely dangerous.
Michigan State:
The Spartans looked impressive in their season opening win over Florida Atlantic last week.
Sparty ran over the Owls 82-55 and they did it without junior Gavin Schilling. The junior is likely to miss this matchup with Kansas as well as he continues to battle a turf toe injury.

In his Michigan State debut, Deyonta Davis recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and added 5 blocks. Davis is expected to be one of the top producers for the Spartans this season and with the way he played in the opener, there is a lot of promise for the freshman.
Denzel Valentine picked up right where he left off last season as he put in 13 points and 9 assists against FAU. Also contributing to the cause was Bryn Forbes.
The Cleveland State transfer is expected to be a giant part of this offense as he is a career 41.4 percent 3 point shooter.
Michigan State leads the all time head-to-head series with Kansas at 6-5.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.
- Jayhawks are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Tuesday games.
- Jayhawks are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
- Spartans are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a SU win of more than 20 points.
- Spartans are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 vs. Big 12.
Free CBB Prediction:
This game will feature two teams who have a lot depth and have a solid compliment of upper and lower class men.
The key will be who wins the battle in the trenches down low. Both the Jayhawks and Spartans have somebody out who will be that presence later on in the season.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Michigan State ATS
It’s not unrealistic, but the Jayhawks probably won’t drill 15 3 pointers again, especially against a much better, in your face defense in Michigan State. Grabbing the points here is the best move as the Spartans have a legit shot to win this one outright.
