Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas’ success in the Big-12 has been unprecedented but never has the conference been as loaded — or at least been perceived to be as loaded — in KU’s 13 years of reign as defending champs.
The Jayhawks are about a coin flip to win their 14th consecutive Big-12 Championship among a field with six top-25 teams, as of this minute, two of which are with the Jayhawks in the top half of that 25.

Nine of the ten teams in the conference are ranked in the top-50 of KenPom’s model. Three are in the top-12, four are in the top-16, but Kansas is the only in the top-10. KU is sixth, with the 17th-best offense and eighth-best defense in the country.
Silvio DeSousa, a freshman from Angola who has been playing at the IMG Academy in Florida, has been deemed eligible to leave the academy and join KU. He’s started practicing with the team but won’t play for a couple more weeks, it would seem. Billy Preston may debut sometime in 2018. In the meantime, KU has been just fine without those two mysterious freshmen.
Texas Longhorns
Texas comes in at #32, according to KenPom, but it has the second-best defense in all the land. Mohamed Bamba is one of the most dominant rim protectors the college game has ever seen because he’s basically as tall as the rim.
His terrorizing presence at the rim affords the perimeter defenders to turn up their aggressiveness.
As a result, the Longhorns force a turnover on more than 22 percent of opponents’ possessions.

The ‘Horns have lost three games against three good teams: Duke, Gonzaga and Michigan. None of the losses were by any more than seven points, either. They’ve won three in a row coming into this game, including a win at Alabama in their last one.
Three-point shooting is the weakness. The Longhorns shoot just 28 percent from deep, which is worse than those VCU teams when Shake Smart was there.
CBB Betting Trends:

Free Kansas vs. Texas NCAAB Prediction: I like Kansas.
It’s going to be a dog fight, like most all of these games are going to be. In the end, I think Texas’ offense will struggle to score more against Kansas’ defense than vice-versa.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: No odds available but a final score prediction is below.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: Kansas 71 – Texas 66
