Iowa didn’t start well when the Big Ten tipped a couple of games per team in early December. The Hawkeyes came out 0–2 with losses to Wisconsin and at Michigan State.
Then it started the New Year with a loss at Purdue to hit a low-point at 0–3. Then it ripped off five in a row: vs. Nebraska when the ‘Huskers were at full strength, at Northwestern, vs. Ohio State, at Penn State and vs. Illinois.
A bizarre lost vs. Michigan State and a narrow defeat at Minnesota followed but the Hawkeyes secured their finest win all season on Friday in a blowout of Michigan.
At home, the Hawkeyes look like they can beat anybody; on the road, things are a challenge, though two true road wins in the Big Ten already isn’t terrible. This is an opportunity for a team that nobody seems sure about where it will finish.
This game is bigger now than it looked to be a week ago because the Hoosiers went into East Lansing and beat Michigan State at the Breslin Center on Saturday, 79–75 in overtime.
Romeo Langford shot just 6-for-18, though he did hit a couple of huge jump shots late and finished with a team-high 19 points. He only threw one more assist (4) than turnovers (3).
With a quick glance at the box score, you may not understand how Indiana managed to win. Then you’ll see the free throw column. Michigan State gave it away at the line, going 8-for-22, including two misses on the front end of a 1-and-1. Nick Ward went 1-for-9 himself.
So the win was a bit of a gift, though Indiana still hung tough in one of the toughest venues in college basketball. That win snapped an eight-game losing streak.

Free Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Indiana Hoosiers NCAAB Prediction: Iowa.
Iowa is one of those teams I’m keeping a close eye on to see how well it’s playing before the NCAA Tournament. If it starts peaking now, it will be too early but I can’t help but think it’ll ride the momentum of the Michigan win. That said, it’ll probably be a public play and I’d be wary of laying much more than a couple of points on the road.
