Ivy League play continues as the Harvard Crimson take on the Brown Bears in Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence.
Harvard are coming off a tough one-point loss to Princeton, while the Brown Bears are coming off a loss to Columbia.
Harvard Crimson
The name of the game for Tommy Amaker’s Harvard squad is defense. The Crimson gives up just 63.7 points per game, putting the team 26th in the nation in that category. Harvard has held all but one Ivy League opponent to under 70 points, and has held three to under 60.
The stifling team defense that Harvard plays is beneficial to the offense as well. The Crimson offense isn’t particularly flashy or high-scoring, averaging just 69.4 points per contest.

In the bottom third in the nation in scoring, Harvard relies on its stellar defense to create opportunities for the offense.
Leading the team in scoring in freshman guard Bryce Aiken. Aiken averages 13.1 points per game but doesn’t shoot the ball particularly well. He’s just 38% from the field and shoots about 11 times per game.
Forward Seth Towns has been playing well for the Crimson. He’s averaging 10.6 points on 40% shooting. Frankly, the Crimson just aren’t a great shooting team.
As a unit, Harvard shoots just 43% from the field which can explain why the team doesn’t score a whole lot.
Brown Bears
Brown might be the polar opposite of Harvard when it comes to how the team wins games. Offensively, the Bears are one of the best in the Ivy League.
The team averages 77.3 points per game and is led by guard-forward Steven Spieth.
Defensively, however, Brown hasn’t been great. The Bears give up over 77 points per game and has failed to hold any Ivy League team under 70 points.
If the Bears are going to beat Harvard, the team has to keep the offense at bay. If Brown can hold the Crimson to its average of 69 points, the Bears should be able to win this game thanks to its offense.

Steven Spieth has had a wonderful year for the Bears offensively. He averages 16.2 points on nearly 50% shooting and grabs about six rebounds per game. His free throw shooting has been great, too. He shoots over 86% from the line.
When Spieth is on, he’s on, and the Bears will look to play through him in order to get the offense going and win this game.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Harvard is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five games
- The OVER is 3-2 in Brown’s last five games
Free Harvard Crimson vs. Brown Bears NCAAB Prediction:
The key to this game is Brown’s defense. If the Bears can keep it a low scoring affair and get Spieth going, the home team should be able to emerge victorious.
I like Brown to get the W in this one.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Brown +3.5
I like Brown to cover here. If Steven Spieth gets going, Harvard doesn’t have anyone that can match him. I like Brown to cover and to win the game.
