As the year progresses, these are going to be two teams who are both fighting for the final spot in the playoffs.
The Utah Jazz appear to be the other, but on Tuesday night, it’s all about the Blazers and the Kings and their quests to shock the NBA by making the postseason.
Sacramento:
The Sacramento Kings have faced off against the Blazers once this season, dropping the contest at home 98-94 back almost one month ago to the day on Dec. 28.
In that game, DeMarcus Cousins went off for 36 points, Rajon Rondo compiled 15 assists and Rudy Gay grabbed 14 rebounds.

Despite the gaudy individual numbers in the box score, the problem came down to stopping CJ McCollum. The Blazers’ starting 2-guard shot 14-of-28 from the field (3-of-9 from deep) and scored 35 points.
Note that the McCollum stat line was posted without Damian Lillard in the lineup, so while Sacramento shouldn’t expect a similar performance from the shooting guard spot, it will be an even tougher task containing one of the highest scoring backcourts in the Association.
Portland:
Although getting Lillard and McCollum going is crucial for the Blazers, there one objective that could prove to be the difference-maker against Sacramento: containing DeMarcus Cousins.
In order for Portland to limit Cousins, it’s going to take a concerted effort from multiple pieces. No one big man on the Blazers’ roster can stop Cousins — in fact, it’s possible no one individual across the NBA can stop the All-Star center.
Look for a combination of Mason Plumlee, Ed Davis and Noah Vonleh to double Cousins throughout.
Portland would also be smart to use Lillard to double down low, as Rondo has as broken a shot as you’ll find across the league.

4* Free NBA Betting Pick: UNDER 214
The Trail Blazers are far from a safe bet on any given night considering their youth and inexperience, but that youth is what also makes them dangerous. DeMarcus Cousins will go off, but it won’t be enough.
Portland’s backcourt prowess will prove to be too much for the Kings, who will be in the second of a back-to-back.
