This game is one of polar opposites; the Atlanta Hawks started their season off hot, but are currently on a three game skid, losing to the Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz, and Boston Celtics.
The Sacramento Kings had trouble winning early on, but can’t be stopped now, winning their last three behind huge efforts from DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo.

It had once looked like the glory days of Rajon Rondo were behind him, however after a NBA-leading 3 triple-doubles in his last five games, he’s looking better than ever. On the flip side, the Hawks will be without starting small forward Kent Bazemore.
Will Atlanta get back on track or has King’s head coach George Karl found the perfect balance for a playoff run?
Atlanta Hawks:
The Atlanta Hawks were an impressive story last season, unexpectedly finishing with a 60-22 record. The question since last season’s playoff exit was simple; was the Hawks’ golden season a fluke?
Starting the season out 8-2 behind some great scoring efforts by enthusiastic hustle man Kent Bazemore, the question was just about ready to be put to rest. Fast forward to last Friday and the Hawks have lost their winning ways.
Without Jeff Teague or Kent Bazemore, the Hawks lost their last two games by a combined three points.
After a loss last night to the Brooklyn Nets, by two points, the Hawks will be looking to get back into their winning ways against an inconsistent, drama-filled Kings team at home in Atlanta.
Despite the tough losses, this team is full of talent & depth. Dennis Schroder has filled in well for Teague, who is questionable for the game tonight. Thabo Sefolosha has picked up the slack in place of the injured Bazemore, leading the Hawks in rebounds two nights in a row.

It’s worth mentioning that with Jeff Teague playing, the Hawks are 8-2 this season. Be sure to keep a close eye on his status heading into this game where he’d potentially be matching up against the rejuvenated Rajon Rondo.
Sacramento Kings:
The Kings, unlike the Hawks, struggled to find success early on, starting the season 1-7. Distractions were front and center when no-BS head coach George Karl clashed with outspoken star player DeMarcus Cousins.
It came to a point where it looked like the front office was going to have to choose between Karl or Cousins.
And then it seemingly happened; George Karl unleashed the beast in DeMarcus Cousins. Over their last three wins, just days after Karl had reportedly wanted “Boogie” suspended for two games after yelling profanities at him, Cousins has averaged 36.3 points per game off of 51.4 percent shooting.
On top of that all, Cousins has shot 9 for 15 from beyond the arc during that same time fame.
A three game win-streak might not be much to the eyes of the NBA elite, but these victories came against some quality Eastern Conference teams.
The Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors are both 6-4 on the season with some impressive wins while the Brooklyn Nets, who are only 2-9, just handed the Atlanta Hawks their third straight loss last night.
Take into the account that Cousins and Rondo, the undisputed on-court leaders of this team, are looking like one of the best duos in the NBA and there might be reason to believe that this team could be ready to make a run for a playoff spot.

The big question mark for this team is their depth. It’s become apparent that the Kings need huge performances from both Rondo and Cousins to have any chance at winning.
It’s worth mentioning that small forward Rudy Gay has shown improvement in his scoring in these three wins for the Kings. George Karl will need more production from the rest of the team to be considered real threats moving forward.
Darren Collison will likely return from injury tonight, a crucial off-the-bench piece for the Kings, relieving Rondo of some of his minutes. The former Celtics PG has played 48 minutes in two of the games Collison missed and least 43 minutes in the other three.

Free NBA Prediction:
Now is the perfect time for the Sacramento Kings to pull off an upset win against a good team. The Atlanta Hawks are short handed, struggling, and are on their second night of a back-to-back.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Sacramento ATS
George Karl’s Sacramento Kings are playing like royalty, winning their last three against some convincingly good teams.
On the other hand the Atlanta Hawks, who are coming off a loss to the 2-9 Brooklyn Nets last night, aren’t exactly providing any reason to believe that they’ll have what it takes to slow down a blazing hot Cousins/Rondo combination.
It won’t be a gimme, but the Kings will take this one in Atlanta.
