The Denver Nuggets are coming off a 112-105 loss at the hands of the Portland Trailblazers, while the Phoenix Suns are also came away losers in a 133-120 point loss against the Golden State Warriors.
But now with both these teams struggling they’re hoping to put all that in the past in this upcoming match up at the Pepsi Center.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns really stepped up in their last outing in Oakland. The team was able to stay close to the Warriors for much of the game, but in the end they just couldn’t come away with the win.

Much of that was due to the fact that they just couldn’t get any stops in the final frame of action.
The Suns gave up 34 points to the Golden State Warriors in the final quarter, which allowed them to pull away with the win.
Although they did come away on the losing end, they showed promise for much of that game. Through four quarters of play, they continued to battle with the former Champions.
They did that against an elite team in the western conference, so they should have an easier night going up against the 3-7 Denver Nuggets.
Denver has got a talented roster, but youth and inexperience has continued to be their Achilles heal as a team.

They do a great job of keeping up for three quarters of play, but once the game comes down to the closing minutes they have a tendency to let up.
So Phoenix has got to capitalize on that. The Nuggets have got second year guard Emmanuel Mudiay starting at point guard, and that means Eric Bledsoe has got to continue attacking him.
He’s hasn’t shown himself to be a great defender yet, and he tends to get into foul trouble.
That means Bledsoe and Booker had got to attack him whenever he is guarding one of the two.
Denver has a lot of young guards on the team, so Bledsoe, Booker and Knight should have themselves a field day.
Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets came up short in a close matchup with the Portland Trailblazers. They bested Portland through the first two quarters of play, but a weak third period (scored only 15 points) allowed Portland to ultimately get the upper hand.
Damon Lillard’s 32 points also didn’t help with the outcome. But a lot of that had to do with the play of Emmanuel Mudiay. He went 3-16 from the field, while allowing Dame to continue scoring at will all game.
That’s just not going to cut it for the team.
Through 10 games Mudiay is shooting only 34.2% from the field.
That’s just unacceptable for a player the teams relying on a nightly basis. Now that doesn’t mean all the blame should fall on his shoulders, because other players have fallen short of expectations themselves.
One of them is Nikola Jokic. The young big-man for Denver looked like a future star last year. But this season he’s been playing the 4 a lot more, and he just hasn’t looked the same.
However, the good thing is they’re going up against the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix does not have the best frontcourt, meaning the Nuggets will look to go to their bigs as often as possible.
Alex Len is going to be matched up with Jusuf Nurkic, while rookie Marquese Chriss is going to be tasked with guarding Nikola Jokic.
That means Denver is going to be looking to score out of the post, as much as possible. So look for both the Nuggets big-men to go off against the Phoenix Suns.
