Guards
Damian Lillard, POR (vs NOLA) $9.9 DK
If you watched the Blazers fall in sweep fashion to the New Orleans Pelicans last postseason despite being a No. 3 seed to their No. 6, you might shy away from Damian Lillard here. After all, the Portland point guard was dominated thoroughly by Jrue Holiday and the Trail Blazers weren’t able to get him going with any adjustments.
This season, though, the Pelicans are 30th in the league—aka, dead last—when defending guards in DFS. And Lillard has been on fire to start the year.
Up until two nights ago, the Rip City guard was leading the league in scoring. This is an early-season elite player you don’t want to fade Thursday night.
De’Aaron Fox, SAC (vs ATL), $6.7 DK
[dfads params=’groups=38073&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Trae Young and De’Aaron Fox are set to face off in Sacramento and you could find reason to draft either guard. Young, despite being inconsistent this early in his career, offers huge upside with his long-distance shooting.
His defense, however, is atrocious at this point in the year and the Hawks at large aren’t much better.
As Sacramento continues to surprise and Fox continues to improve, this pick is an easy one, if you’re deciding between the two. Fox’s price tag helps as well compared to Young’s $7.1k price tag—a risky price considering his bust potential night in and night out.
Forwards
Robert Covington, PHI (vs LAC), $5.4k DK
Taurean Prince of the Atlanta Hawks is averaging 29.7 FPTS per game this season. Why do I bring that up? Because he’s the player directly ahead of Robert Covington in that category for forwards, yet he’s $6.9k compared to Robert Covington’s $5.4k at 29.8 FPTs per game.
Both are in action on Thursday, but it’s an easy choice on who the more desirable selection is.
Marvin Bagley III, SAC (vs ATL), $5.0 DK
Bagley, like Trae Young and to an extend De’Aaron Fox, represents a risk in this one. But considering his opponent—a Hawks squad that is just 25th in defending forwards in DFS this season—he’s well worth the risk.
Atlanta is still without John Collins and will likely look to push the ball in transition for cheap buckets. That will create more possessions, which can only be a good thing for a young forward with a lot of upside in Bagley.
Centers
Nikola Jokic, DEN (@ CLE) $10.1k DK
If it’s in the cards (or more specifically, the DFS drafting check book), Nikola Jokic should be your center. Like Lillard, you’d be remiss to fade him in this one. Cleveland is without Kevin Love and is as bad on defense as it comes in today’s NBA.
If you need to skip on someone like De’Aaron Fox to make this pick more reasonable, you can play it safe with someone like JJ Redick or look for extreme value opportunities in guys like Markelle Fultz or Etwaun Moore.
But either way, we can’t express enough how good Jokic should be against the Love-less Cavaliers.

One last thing. Remember… at the end of the day if you can’t afford to gamble online OR play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel then STOP. We know most DFS players need action, heck we do too, so just bet what you can afford.
Don’t go chasing money in high dollar GPP’s. Stick to cash games, and try to play on bigger slates. Avoid those night time 2 games slates. Your bankroll will thank us later.
