With Marc Gasol signed to a new contract, along side Zach Randolph and Mike Conley, the Grizzlies have one of the best big 3 in the game.
They brought in Brandan Wright and Matt Barnes to add depth to an already deep team that will have many weapons off the bench.
The main question for Memphis is will they be able to take that next step and solidify themselves as a top contender in not just the West, but in all of the NBA.
Grizzlies Strengths:
Memphis has the scorers, rebounders, and defenders to really have one of the most complete and talented teams in the NBA.

Big 3
The Grizzlies rendition of the Big 3 features Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, and Marc Gasol.
Randolph averaged a double-double in 2014-2015 with 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Randolph offers a solid variety of inside presence on defense and can take a game over with his scoring abilities.
Mike Conley is the top playmaker and clutch player on this team. Conley averaged 15.8 points per game to go along with 5.4 assists a game. His ability to make something out of nothing is what makes his game so good.

Marc Gasol comes off a season that saw him score 17.4 points per game to go along with 7.8 rebounds. Him and Randolph down low are one of the best 1-2 big men in the league.
Grizzlies Weaknesses
Memphis has the talent to be right up there with the best in the NBA. They in fact held the Western Conference lead for a majority of the season last year, before ultimately fading at the end of the season.
Still, this Memphis team is one that every hates to see on their schedule. However, it’s finding that extra gear and getting themselves to that next step down the stretch of the season is what they’re missing.
Memphis has a “Big 3”, but they still don’t have that go to guy down the stretch of games every time.
Memphis Key Personnel Losses:
- Kosta Koufos (free agent), Jon Leuer (trade), Nick Calathes (overseas)
Kosta Koufos will be missed out of these three no doubt about that. Koufos offered that solid compliment to the Randolph-Gasol area that allowed both to get valuable rest at times. Koufos was able to use his length to become a dominant force inside on the defensive end.

Grizzlies Top Newcomers:
- Brandan Wright (free agent), Matt Barnes (trade), Jarell Martin (draft)
Brandan Wright and Matt Barnes are an under the radar type of signings. Wright will fit in offensively and take some of the pressure off Randolph and Gasol, while Barnes will be a nice force defensively. This team was a deep team last season and with the additions of these two, their bench will be stacked once again.
Grizzlies 2015 Betting Prediction: 63-29
Memphis has the ability and the talent to become a legit contender for the title. Not saying they haven’t been in the past seasons, but they’ve always folded in the midst of the playoffs.
Expect Memphis to be right where they were last year in terms of the standings as they should be able to grab a top 3 finish.
